I was simply showing you the most recent update buddy. No, they haven't made any other updates since that one.
Just because I don't reply for a week or 2 doesn't mean the mod's abandoned :/ I've been a bit busy unpacking lately, and also working on some vehicle mod stuff too, so I haven't done much since the last progress update. I'll post more progress soon
This map is amazing! I can't wait for it to be done! Maybe could add some more towns and possibly a big city? That would be awesome!
Thanks for the kind words! The map is going to be mostly just roads and highways, with a small mountain community/town somewhere in the middle of the map. I was going for a 1:1 real life scale with this map, and realistically there isn't room for anything larger. As for progress, nothing really noteworthy atm... I'm still filling in the map again with forest items after I wiped it back in February. I've also been mostly focusing on my Mazda Cosmo mod as of late.
I highly doubt he will. When providing a public WIP mod creators hardly ever get any constructive feedback. He would be better off having a private beta-testing group.
The map won't be released in a beta form yet... I haven't ruled out the possibility of a WIP release simply due to the fact that none of my maps ever truly end up complete, but with over half of the forest still left to replace on the map, AI support needed still on most of the roads, and a boatload of custom assets to make still, I don't think now is an appropriate time to release it.
The junkyard replaces what used to be the grocery store (I still need to find a new spot to put it, no luck yet since the asset I'm using requires a very particular spot which I've yet to create.
Just wanted to pop in to say that I share the same thought @waboll had here. I'd also suggest adding the Moonhawk and Barstow, since I don't see any in the junkyard screenshots, unless they're completely covered up by the top vehicles. This is one is merely a question, not a suggestion, have you also thought about adding the Sporter and that one old truck (this one) you're working on, since you added the Contender and the Blue Collar Series? I did see what you said in the Development Screenshots thread about not getting carried away, so I hope this doesn't come as a bother to you.
bump Finally got around to fixing the level so I can work on it again First things first, I'm going through and dusting things off... Its been 2 years since I've touched this, the map has been in the works since 2017, and several things ended up broken through game updates due to the cluttered and unorganized nature of all the assets. Before anyone comes in here reading all the old progress posts and subsequently asking for any release dates and such... No, I can't release the map yet even in its current form... I still have a ton of work to do; 1; AI is a steaming hot mess still... Again the map has been in the works for 4 years, and has been through countless game updates. AI was never set up properly in the first place, and updates have only compounded it. Some areas have the AI going the wrong way, and in the small mountain town I need to make it easier for cars to navigate the more complex scenery without crashing or getting stuck. 2; All the roads need to be redone from scratch. The newer official levels, and all remastered levels utilize a much more complex decal road structure setup, where the AI paths are on invisible roads or waypoints, and the lines are laid out on top of an asphalt texture. Mine still use the old one layer decalRoad setup, which takes up much more space. This level is going to be close to the official size limit just with the heightmap (8192x8192,) so I need to maximize every ounce of space I can... Which leads to my next point... 3; I still need to sort through and remove hundreds, possibly thousands, of unused assets, plus replace the old and outdated ones with up to date and current ones. As usual it's really just one of my side projects (Map making anymore is just such a hassle compared to modeling and JBeaming thanks to the current WIP level editor situation,) so don't expect progress updates very often... Though I still intend on completing it. Sorry I don't have any new pics, while things are working again it definitely doesn't look presentable atm... Hopefully I'll have a few areas screenshot-ready this week
New multiple decalRoad setup on the left, old single road setup on the right; Lines are from West Coast USA, asphalt ground texture is from East Coast USA, and finally the edge and overlay textures are from Italy. Still need to lay out the white edge lines for the shoulders, and I may also change the overlay texture to something else. The new road setup will take up far less file space overall in comparison to the old setup, and is far more flexible... Should help me eliminate at-least 10 unnecessary and extremely large road assets, and will help improve overall detail up close. --- Post updated --- Finished up the road in the test location pictured above; Additionally I started reworking the road textures in the town, plus converted one of the neighborhood roads to dirt; Also forgot to mention back when I was last actively working on the map that I redid the tunnel model;
oh i am so excited this is back i remember looking forward to it back in 2017, glad its made a return
Decided to give the spawn point a makeover; Now the overpass is integrated in a more realistic fashion, unlike the placeholder garbage that was there before. Also decided to start over with tree and shrub placement... Given my limited selection of available trees (Douglas-fir, Aspen, and Juniper,) that fit the general environment I'm going for (Western Colorado,) I need to be far more creative with overall placement and blending between forested and open areas currently. I'm missing like 8-10 tree types, some of which form many of the major forests in the state, so at some point I'm going to have to model some new trees...
