I think it has been metioned before with the tire physics change, the model was coded this way because tires weren't 100% realistic, and now that they are a lot better the aero can be improved as well.
If they are actually re-doing the aero physics, rip all flying mods. (But hopefully a more realistic aero system will encourage more people to make flying mods.)
If it will still be compatible with old spoilers, wings, splitters, etc., which we can assume it will, then I don't see why it would break all flying mods, it might just make them fly different, like the tire physics change didn't break any tires
The reason I think it will make them not work is current planes are few and far between, and from what I understand they somewhat abuse the current aerodynamic system, in order for them to fly realistically and controllably. (I believe they have completely unrealistic lift levels, drag coefficients, etc.) All that will likely be needed to get them to work on a new system will be some tweaks of values, but plenty of flying mods, especially for flying cars, are long abandoned and will need somebody else to make them work, not the original creator.
Well, if they have unrealistic values then they may break, but I thought there were some properly made plane mods that use realistic values instead of "cheating"
Don't want to rain on anyone's parade here, but this seems to be a misunderstanding. There is no new aero model or anything along those lines.
maybe because beamng reduced a lot the air drag for the new tire system, so they (automation) probably thought that beamng was doing a whole new aero system while it was just some adjustements to compensate the new behavior of the tires
