Hello everyone! I am new to the forums, and kinda new to BeamNG since i got this piece of art which i enjoy alot more than a year ago. After the 0.21 update introduced a new tire physics - its now even more satisfying to go for a ride. I got curious tho - since i use tires packs and namely: Hex Crawler pack and Nix Crawler tires (thanks guys for the awesome mods <3), which both of them are not have yet updated after the release of 0.21 and since in the BeamNG update they state: "With all tires retuned to take advantage of these changes, our vehicles are handling better than ever." So my question is: should the mod creator "tune" the wheel pack, or it is under-the-hood thing which is held by the game engine and subsystems for consistency? Thanks for reply in advance and excuse me for not the best english. :)

We don't really know yet, the tire system has been changed in 0.22 too, and there is no documentation of the changes yet, nobody even knows what exactly they changed. But I assume they probably did it the way that will keep older mods still working as intended.

Yes, its an underhood thing. Basically, the improvement is to the system that reduces rolling resistance, which has a "side benefit" of making the tire more consistent in grip and steering feel from low speed to high speed (say 300-400kmh). The result of this is the vehicle might be a bit faster in terms of lap times, might have a higher top speed than before. With the new code the main thing we had to do was increase the air drag of the cars. In the past that had been reduced because the rolling resistance was too high, holding the cars back. We will have a blog update soon about the changes :)

I knew the air drag was increased, it was very noticable for some cars like the Vivace, and I wondered why it wasn't pointed out in the changelog, now I know

Wohoo didn't expect dev answer! Anyway, thanks for nailing out my concerns about the tires, also nice to learn that we have air-drag, lovely physics this game has.
