What's up with the engine sounds on some cars?

It's certainly not a bug, but more of a large oversight...

Still, I think it should be at least mentioned that the engine sounds on cars like the older American V8s are just wildly inaccurate. The 423 Barstow sounds very quiet and as if it has a very low cam profile. Realistically, pre-emission American cars had very aggressive cams compared to the ones in the seventies and up. If you've ever heard a 60's muscle car in-person, you'll know that they sound like they don't want to idle, simply due to the cam profile. The game's engine sounds meanwhile seem like they're from a modern V8 - smooth idle sounds, quiet and tame exhaust note, etc... unless you put on the too brash sounding exhaust like side pipes, which also don't sound accurate. A 6.8 litre motor won't sound like the 4.5 fuel injected motor in the D-series. A small detail to add would be having the traditional "pinging" noise that custom headers make.

Even the Moonhawk would have a more aggressive engine sound. I'll provide some video clips of what I mean, note the idle sound:

Note the "pinging" noise caused by the headers, and how an aftermarket cam makes it idle differently:

Iirc they just used sounds they could find on the internet, they can’t afford to get custom ones made or something like that.

I assume TDK will be in here to correct me though : )

That makes sense. This game uses FMOD, and they've got some NICE engine sounds - hopefully the devs check them out!
