Feel free to disagree, but I think that the Queens of the Stone Age might be the most masterfully written, technically competent, and just downright most interesting bands of the 21st century. I'm glad that they exist, as I love how they are able to bring rock into a pop-dominated world and simply play around with ideas and be able to utilize modern sound equipment to advance the genre. They have a distinct sound, but their discography is so diverse that no two songs sound alike. They're listenable and popular, but they're not afraid to produce complex music. Every single member of the band is incredibly competent, and the product always feels like an emotional microcosm of some part of Josh Homme's brain. I feel like the future will remember them as one of the greats. I'm not the arbitrator of good or bad, but I'd be curious to hear your opinions on this.
