I got this for my birthday and I was disappointed when I read that It was only available on Windows. Please make an update so that it will be available on all devices, specifically, Macs, Thank you.

Yeah, not gonna happen. Devs have said it many times that this will only be available for windows, not linux, not mac, not console.

You can use boot camp to run Windows on your Mac:

There are countless threads explaining the difficulties of getting it to run on Apple's OS and (as stated in the above comment) ways to get it to run with bootcamp. Please look into any of those.

the high end ones totally could cause they come with 24+ cores, but the problem is that macs are so stupidly overpriced that nobody actually has one.

I have a MacBook Pro with only 4 cores that was able to play the game okay via bootcamp on lowest settings at 1080p/low at 720p, but I would definitely recommend playing it on an actual pc if you can. It's just a much better experience.

If you have a MacBook that actually has a dedicated gpu, and isn't using integrated graphics, maybe it would run okay? I have no idea what specs you've got.

But yea the game isn't coming to MacOS soon, and I'm leaning towards never at all.

If you buy a Mac, you're paying for the design. Some folks, though, think they're paying for performance and get dissapointed when their $1,300 laptop with integrated graphics and 8gb ram can't play games.

I get a Mac for the OS. I generally prefer it for music-making and other productivity stuff. But yea it sucks for gaming, whether booted into windows or not. It's just not built for it, at all.

Beam will never run as well on a Mac as on a pc of similar price, so it won't be ported for a while, if ever. It's not worth the effort.

You won't be able to run it on MacOS directly, but depending on what kind of Mac you have, you should be able to install Windows and run the game depending on what graphics chip your computer is running.

Actually Beam isn't all that intense of a game to run anymore. Back when it first came out, it was pretty intense for modern computers, but back then, the top of the top of the line (short of server hardware) was basically an 8 core processor with no hyperthreading and about 4GB of Ram... Back then that would have been like... a $1,800+ machine. Now adays Cell phones come with that kind of horsepower. Yet Beam has basically the same requirements as it used to have back at launch which is honestly a tentmate to the devs.

Anyways, point being, back then my MacBook Pro 2010 played the game rather well even with its rather underpowered graphics card. Once more complicated maps started to be added, it did get more difficult to keep the fps up at a playable level, but it was still good enough.

My other rig that I run Beam on normally now though is also a 2010 but its a Mac Pro. It has enough power to run this game at well over 100+fps with no issues no matter how many cars you throw at it.

Indeed... granted the prices are starting to come down, but if you buy used... they actually become a great deal as it seems to be pretty hard to kill a Mac (or at least I have never had one fail)

Yeah... after around 2010, they really started to go down hill. Before that time, they were rather high end machines, but weren't quite as esthetically pleasing. I am glad they finally started to put in higher end hardware again. Sure from 2010 to 2019... they were pretty... but honestly they weren't any better then any other HP or Dell you could pick up at Walmart for about $500... except at Apple you would be paying about $1200 to 1800 for the same specs. Don't get me wrong... the build quality was second to none, sure... but you want some power behind it, and compared to the competition... it just wasn't there. Only in the past few months have they finally gotten back in the performance game again, and while their new chips are quite good, we will just have to see if they decide to just work on pure profit this year, or if they are going to try and really punch above their weight class again.
