you're damn right! Get ready to have pileups with this one! --- Post updated --- I am currently cutting out the panels for the Monaco. In the backround you can spot a moonhawk body. I am using the moonhawk body for reference of topology and how to do the undercarriage and interior carpeting. I will not use any of the mesh for the moon hawk, its just for reference only.
So I have started work on the under carriage and appare ntly the Dodge Monaco is a B body. I'm literally learning about this car as I go. For those who don't know the B body is a series of mopar vehicles such as the Dodge Charger, Coronet, and Roadrunner. They have styling differences to the outside but they are all mechanically Identical. Under the hood, and under the body. Correct me if I'm wrong. Time to get this body modelled!
The Fury, Monaco, Roadrunner, Coronet and Charger were all put on the smaller B body sometime in 1975-6, after which the Fury and some others were continued as the same car running on the larger C body as they were before hand but with slightly altered naming. The Gran Fury is the same old Fury of 1974 but the new standard Fury despite the name was a different car. Something like that anyways, i haven't scratched up on my mid '70s mopar knowledge in a while and i cant remember the names of the other C Body cars in the Chrysler line of 1976, theres a bit trivia for you
I have no idea what I am doing lol So I got some progress on the underbody. Got the transmission tunnel and stuff. half way through my process I realised the underbody orthographic reference was that of a Challenger which isn't a B-body at all, so I just followed reference of the underside of a Roadrunner for the little details. Not sure how much you guys care about the underbody accuracy but I'd still like to try. --- Post updated --- While I'm on the underbody, do you think the axle tunnel is too high? I didn't want to make it too shallow because I need to fit that rear axle but it does look a bit deep...right?
I don't know if this helps, but this is generally the dimensions of the frame for the '77 Monaco and Charger.

I thought these B-bodies featured a subframe. At least that's what it looks like in the reference. Is it just a ladder frame for the sake of reference? Or am I just missing something.
Subframes are part of a body-on-frame's chassis, so yeah...it is a ladder chassis too. The Barstow is a good example of a car with a subframe.
Did the firewall. It does look a little bare at the moment, but I'm sure a nice engine and textures will fix that when the time comes. Not done with the frame yet anyways.
Mopars have been unibodies since the early 60s, the subframes are part of the body. Here are a few pics: that's from a 68 roadrunner but essentially the same. The next one is from a model kit but is probably the best you could find: You're doing an amzing job! It's great to see it take shape.
Ah glad I wasn’t mistaken. I wish I could’ve experienced these 70’s mopars in their prime. Not that I wouldn’t want to experience one now. They’re just so rare and expensive these days! And the Monacos seem to be almost extinct.
Yeah, normal attrition took most of them and Hollywood wrecked a lot of the best ones. These days your best bet would be a barn find I guess. Although unrestored or old restoration ones pop up on ebay and Craigslist from time to time. If you like old Mopars, check out Nick's Garage on Youtube. A lot of it is about engines but it's great.
Question: its called Dodge Monaco Police car, but it won't only have a police variant, right? ...right?
I started this project with the idea of making it a police car. But I will be making civ variants, taxis etc. Maybe even a coupe
