ok so i was playing beam ng drive and i noticed that for the older cars that have odometers, they don't even work. a really nice touch to add more realism to beam ng is to have working odometers that can track your mileage for the older cars. and for the newer cars, have the touchscreen list how much miles you have driven.
I did some experiments you might be interested in @dsarraino, also pinging @TheSystemGuy A ui app that saves the players driven distance every session. Kinda like a persistent odometer but for each car and config, mods and custom configs should also work, provided their names are unique. I'm still testing but it looks promising so far:
Yeahhhh but a ui app isnt that realistic, ive seen a few car mods where it logs the miles driven into a .txt file and then puts it onto the odometer.
The advantage of the app is that it works for all existing and upcoming vehicles/configs, while saving it seperately for each, permanently. Alternatively, modding that immersively into every vehicles cockpit is near impossible and up to each vehicles creator I'd assume. It would be nice for the vanilla cars though for sure.
https://www.beamng.com/resources/satsuma-210-58.2009/ This is the one with no engine sound, as far as i know it works. I tried it in 0.20 but not 0.21 so no promises https://beamng.com/threads/satsuma-amp-gl-gt.59327/ This one works in 0.21, I played with it yesterday. It has a memory odometer, while the 210 resets the odometer everytime you reset the car
If you are having a sound bug on the Satsuma 210, clean reinstall of the game helps every time for some reason, idk why it happens and why only that solves it
