Somebody go ahead and rename this thread to: Beamp vs KissMP cant yall just appriciate things in life? there was a time that we were not even thinking that we would be able to play beamng with our friends so this time has come and yall argue about what platform is best? i guess people just gotta complain about everything.. APPRICIATE the hard work being put into both beamp and kiss by people who may or may !!NOT!! be coding and programming experts and just want to do this for the community and not as a job to fill their pockets with cash. you make this thing look like a challenge like "WHICH WILL BE BETTER SOONER BEAMP OR KISS? OH KISS CAN DO THIS THAT BEAMP CANT SO BEAMP SUCKS and WOW BEAMP IS SO UNSTABLE AND UNPLAYABLE KISS IS DEFFINATELY BETTER" come on people... everyone is trying to have some fun..dont ruin things because you wanna make something look better as it already is. people can recognise hard work.so play the damn game. But DONT expect everything to just WORK like magic and with 5000fps..everyone understand everything is WORK IN PROGRESS and this is not the final form of anything...also please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT complain about fps if you re trynna run beamng on a 2000's computer with an intergrated graphics card and a 2.00ghz processor with 1 stick of 570mb ram. Can we stop fighting now and just enjoy the games? stay safe
who cares just use what works best for you one networking protocol is really lightweight and requires basically any graphing calculator to run at most the other is slightly heavier and needs more juice, however delivers similar if not the same result if you have enough bandwidth to overcome that (both work fine for me on 72megabit down / 15 up at 90 ping, using 6 year old hardware)
Very sorry to interrupt, but I still don't get why my messages got deleted and these did not: the "author" of the thread said not to compare the two services but all I see is a continous "this is better than that" and "BeamMP sucks because it's not open source". Were they deleted because I wrote a few words in favour of BeamMP?
We can't delete your messages, only mods can, so questions to them. We are pissed with drama that goes on here with BMP tbh, and we just wish it'll end at some point.
That was mostly a question to the mods that are surely reading this thread indeed. I couldn't DM who deleted my posts as there was no name with the deletion notification.
yeah leeloo doesn't really have valid reasons most of the time when she deletes posts she just throws in personal attacks and forgets about it it happens I guess
The official picture of this thread. I wish we could all live in peace in this thread. Also i must apologize as i might have worded some stuff a little harshly earlier today. People seem to forget that BeamMP and KissMP are not neighbours at war but trading partners (to put it in a way)
It seems as though less than 24 hours ago we were commenting on the quality of my computer... so I'll just say this: my ping is at about 75ms, sometimes more sometimes less, and my CPU's banana score is over 10 cars, so while I may not be a NASA computer owner, I do have a better computer than many people
What a brilliant mod. It was great to see so many familiar names from the forum online last night. I seemed to be in the minority according to the chat but I found this runs incredibly smooth. BMP seemed to tie my framerate to the server meaning I was often limited to <60fps, whereas in this I'm seeing way above that with 10 players. I was even able to use the node grabber to attach my car to another and it mostly worked! There is still the annoyance of players changing parts, causing lag spikes. It would be nice if this could be limited, or somewhat prevented by disabling automatic parts updates - but I understand the mod wants to stay simple, so changing someone's in game options isn't ideal. Maybe a server side option for kicking a player who makes 10+ changes to their car over the course of a minute would be better...
It's possible to implement using server side lua. We're working on limiting automatic parts changes tho, as it's quite a huge problem
I just encountered some problems on the servers. I don't know if I did anything wrong. I was trying to get more performance out of my game (offline in prep for mp) when I discovered my fps stayed locked whatever I did, offline too thus. Then I decided to remove the gamesettings config file from user folder since it auto-generates a new one anyway. I had cleared cache before I did this. I then discovered why fps was responding again to my changes in settings. Good news, right ? So I turned down my graphics to lowest by preset and then added decent dynamic reflections for good mirror view. When I use KissMP I always disable all other mods and don't use configs. I even keep the user vehicles folder out of the user folder. (after I discovered the first day that someone had spawned off my config ) After this, I spawned in East Coast to discover I caused instability for the other players. I decided to leave and retry West Coast where I encountered the same problem. I don't understand what seems to be the problem, I've always run the game clean since I own it. While having these problems my fps was decent (East Coast 70-100 with collision and 3 cars incl mine and West Coast around 60 without collision and I believe 5 cars incl mine). My ping rate is most often 100+ . Don't know what to do now, if I revert to that old gamesettings config file my fps doesn't respond to my settings, weird, right ? So I guess I'll try adjusting in game settings and try again in an 'easy' server session.
Hey @NOCARGO when we were online yesterday I never noticed any problems in your connection. In fact you were one of the only people I could race closely with. Maybe the FPS not responding is vsync being enabled?
I had the same issue when I was playing on ECUSA, I wanted to spawn a regular base CVT sunburst, but it caused instability to everyone. So I changed to the base sunburst but in manual and replaced the gearbox by the CVT and everything was ok (my ping was ~100-150ms, my fps were ~20-30fps and there was something like 5 or 6 cars spawned incl mine). I absolutely don't have any explanation about this but I just wanted to share it to the devs.
yeah tbh beammp is a pain in the ass compared to kiss. I literally had to wait 3 hours for 1 mod to download, and once I got I;the game it was stuttery asf
Yeah, you have to PAY for beammp. This is free. --- Post updated --- Especially me. my PC is an expired potato
