honestly if you can host servers for free im downloading it BeamMP has turned into a "meh" fest now mike had good things to say when he was testing it as well
wow and this version doesnt act like they own the game for making a mod either? This looks promising with all those goody features. ill def gonna be trying this one out. Ive been ignoring the BeamMP mod simply because i had to pay to make a server with my friend.
I dont actually think this is gonna last that long because if BeamMP makes servers free, what does this offer above it?
How does it handle (vehicle) mods? Does it do it like BeamMP's old version used to do; so that everyone can use all vehicle mods they have installed, but it'll show up as the default vehicle (blue D-series) for all players who don't have the same mod? Or does it do it like BeamMP's current version does; so the host/server has a list of mods that are automatically downloaded by anyone who joins, and then ONLY those vehicles (and non-mod vehicles of course) can be used on that server regardless of what mods everyone has themselves?
Mods are downloaded and then mounted into FS. You can't use mods that are not installed on the server
it's open source code seems to be more efficient i've encountered less bugs UI is simpler offers more features like paint and plates syncing without needing to reload the car edit basically what Re:Z_IA and Codeslamer said huh last time i played configs weren't syncing (aka cars spawned with their default config instead of the one you wanted) and mods were taking ages to download
Even from a quick glance, it is fully open source, does not force Discord integration, and actually works with DRM-free versions of the game. And unlike BeamMP, this development team to be more on the mindset that they are creating a mod for a game rather than the game itself, which I greatly appreciate. This project definitely has my attention and support, and I'm excited to be able to try out a multiplayer mod without being accused of piracy for using Humble Bundle.
well uh, there is a simple "fix" for Humble Bundle, just get the Steam Key from there. I never encountered any bugs
And unless I'm wrong (feel free to let me know), doesn't seem tied to exclusively the steam version, so people who use the drm free version of say, from humble bundle, can play too. I've heard stories from beammp of people being written off as pirates for wanting to play on that version
you havent encountered bugs in BeamMP? you are either supreme capping or you have played regular beamng and tricked yourself into thinking it was multiplayer
ikr? BeamMP was a buggy mess after many months of being out and this one is better and its been out for just a few hours lol
Please don't turn this into a bashing thread for BeamMP though. It requires running the bridge application included in the ZIP, because BeamNG can't communicate with external servers without it. Otherwise nothing else is required.
That’s a very hard question to answer, mod makers and beta tester will say a lot better and others probably haven’t used it enough to have a trustworthy opinion but it’s really something you should test for yourself and see which mod is best suited to you.
