Considering we have mods to make cars indestructible, and mods to add indestructible engines and powerful NOS, is it possible to make it so that cars have tires with unlimited grip?

Yes, but it would result in flipping cars basically always when steering.

What would be high enough traction to be good for OP power but not enough to flip you like that?

Well, basically everything over 1.3 is going to make the car flip.

Even when just on a straightaway?

No, when you're just gonna go straight, you can just bump it up to 10000000000000000 or whatever. It only matters when steering.

After a certain value it stops making a difference from what I've tested. Increasing grip of drag tires 10 times does exactly the same as increasing it 100 times so there's probably a limit somewhere in between. The CJD Special Tunes mod has some really grippy drag slicks (sometimes even too grippy as they cause some cars to do giant wheelies on normal roads), and also you can use my mod to scale friction of the whole car which includes the tire grip.

Does scaling a car's global friction fuck anything up?

Scaling it up even the tiniest amount makes rollovers MUCH more violent, and generally if you touch anything you get grabbed. On some vehicles it also instantly breaks glass. But it's not as bad as increasing size, stiffness or damping. It's one of the safest values to edit.

If you REALLY want to cause a mess, set friction to a negative value. I did this with Lua once and the results were hilarious. Do it with the engine, and it might even explode like a big grenade. Its pretty awesome actually.

I wouldn't really suggest "unlimited" grip, because that means you could only go in a straight line without flipping your car, instead maybe something that adds insane grip, but not "unlimited."

I usually just try to see how fast I can get a car to go in a straightaway.

It was when I modified them through Lua. Idk if they get clamped or not now though. What I did was set an engine to a negative dynamic friction value, then revved the engine. Kaboom!

I tested it and some values CAN be negative, a funny thing is that you can have negative precompression and then the game tries to invert the car inside out lol
