that doesnt have any effect. plug it in, my old laptop with the same specs and company just with an i3 could handle beam just fine on smaller maps like the grid map at a steady 30

edit: also there could be dust in your pc doubt it tho

Yeah, these specs definitely won't run BeamNG very well. These specs are absolutely terrible for BeamNG

One thing you can do is make sure there are no programs running in the background. With a dual core laptop processor, every little thing makes a difference. So make sure your browser and any other programs are closed. To make sure use task manager and see what is using the most of your RAM and CPU power, only leave the programs you really really need and close the rest. When I was using my old laptop with 5200u, I even shut off my antivirus and ran the game straight from steam folders bypassing the steam launcher to remove overhead from that.

If you haven’t used your laptop in some time and run into performance problems soon after launch - it might be windows update - it really bogs down 2 core CPUs. You can check this theory in task manager. If so, give it 10 minutes to finish up.

Also, mods. In general, the more mods you have, the worse are your loading times in BeamNG and when spawning cars. The difference can get huge at larger mod counts especially if you have some huge mods, but it shouldn’t give these problems you described. BUT, if you run your mods through repository and they get updated while you play, installation will freeze/chug your BeamNG for some seconds to a minute, so watch out for that or let them update before you sit in the car.

But really the only solution here is a proper gaming laptop (might get expensive) or preferably a desktop for your gaming needs.

Those specs aren’t terrible, they’re just not great. I still have a Dell G5 5090 from a year ago that is a lot worse than the PC that I’m using now, with a core i7 9700 and 16 GB of RAM, and still ran the game at over 100 FPS on most maps. Just make sure that nothing else in running in the background.

Turns out the fan was dusty as hell, I cleaned it, and the game finally runs at a stable FPS.
