Through recent events and certain issues that have revolved around the chat room (IRC) that is some-what officially associated with BeamNG (http://www.beamng.com/irc) I have decided to release a list of documented rules that must be accepted and followed when within this chat room.
Before the rules are listed, you must understand that certain roles exist within the room. Next to a users name you may see a few symbols (@ - %), these represent a form of authority, these are the users who can and will take action against those who disobey the rules documented below. Users with a (+) within their name depict people who are known in the community, and who supply the game with modifications and vehicles, they may also represent respected users of the IRC community. (Please note: The IRC community is not affiliated with BeamNG in any way.
    Rules and general information:
    • Anythingthat occurs in a 'room' other than #BeamNG is not our nor BeamNG's problem. You are originally directed to #BeamNG, where you go from there is done so at your own discretion. Don't like like what's going on? Leave.
    • Usernames with less than two (2) characters in size are banned from #BeamNG, this in general also reiterates rules against IRC usernames in general.(see http://forum.swiftirc.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23817)
    • Swearing is prohibited. Generally, if our censor filter doesn't pick it up, it's okay, unless you are purposely avoiding it (such as sh1t etc) this usually, after a few warnings equates to a kick.
    • Pornography or illegal material such as illegal torrents (warez) are strictly prohibited, this will lead to a channel ban, you may not receive a warning.
    • Links that allow you some form of revenue are not allowed. You can link your own website etc, we just don't want links that give you things such as steam games for a certain number of 'hits'.
    • The authoritative figure is correct if you are asked to stop, stop. If you need to dispute something refer to another user with either a (@ or %) within their username, they will resolve any issues.
    • We are NOT your personal help desk we are here to assist you with BeamNG related issues, if we happen to help with other issues, great, we are however under no obligation to do so.
    • Trolling will not be tolerated We have stuff to do, we don't appreciate trolls, our time is valuable
    • Keep it G rated we often have young kids in there, lets try keep our chat appropriate.
    • Just ask your question you are not required to ask for assistance as that is what we are here for, just type it out till your heart contents! :)
    • We are human we are not at the chat 24/7, and on occasion it may be a little while till someone may respond, don't get angry if no one helps you straight away!
    • Enjoy yourself We don't bite in #BeamNG, we do however ':|' a lot, it's nothing against you ;)
The rules depicted above will be enforced, and if required you may be either kicked from the channel (#BeamNG), and/or banned. (Bans will usually be of a 2-3 week period.)

Any questions? Why not come into the chat and ask! (http://www.beamng.com/irc) (or post here, but that's less fun)

I really hope you are kidding. HadACoolName is someone who is almost always a bit foolish and not everything he says is true or especially serious.

I still think he cool doe. (The above can also apply for me).

yeah, why are you putting ~~super serious strict~~ arbitrary rules on a small-time internet chatroom?

    Was explained in first line...
Not are they super strict, don't like it, don't use it (approach I have taken for #OffTopic)

Because this isn't really a "small time internet chatroom".
Yes, it does come in random people just to ask a question and then leave, which is perfectly fine.
But for those who really want to hang out there and get to know other people, these rules are a good thing to know.
Also for those who want to come in as a regular visitor, I strongly encourage them to get an IRC client instead of webchat.

    Well, thank you.
I'm also trying to reach a 0.4 release with some GUI improvements and other fixes during this weekend.

Although I like the IRC, the Skype chat is amazing. Like no rules, and just straight talk. My type of chatroom. :/

Sure, the skype chat is pretty cool i guess, but it's identical to #offtopic (albeit in #offtopic one may be confronted with shock value material).
Nothing is stopping people from making their own channels, it's really simple.

I used to mildly enjoy BeamNG's IRC but one of the OPs was rude and really turned me off from it.

Kinda sucks because I actually had some pretty cool discussions with people.
