At that point you could just make something like a Formula Vee from scratch, especially when you consider the engine/transaxle combo on the piccolina is heavier than his whole kart currently is, at around 120kg.

You probably won't be able to make something truly as light and rigid as a kart within the limits of the beamNG engine. Just 90kg is already quite good, and one the lightest functioning car I've ever heard of in beam by a decent margin, especially considering the fact it looks quite stable in your video.

I had started looking into making a kart before seeing this thread come back to life, and in my case for the weight target I went for were some kart+driver minimum weight figures I found on the internet, something like 160ish kg. Since the driver is a pretty significant percentage of the weight of a race ready kart, I think it gives you a decent amount of margin, with the "left-over" weight being put into a "driver" node, allowing to raise the CG to a more realistic height compared to just the chassis.

Why are people like this. It's supposed to be a semi-realistic racing kart at most it should have 48~HP. Plus a V8 would ruin everything besides going straight and even then it would be pretty uncontrollable.

    Added a '90s style bodykit.

I think 91kg is as far as I can go, I tried all last night trying to reduce the weight to no avail. When the nodes are too light, I can't raise the beamSpring high enough to maintain chassis rigidity with the driver node on top of it. Total weight + driver is 154kg which is still pretty realistic!

With that in mind, unreasonably big engines are definitely a no go. :p

A V8 driver model maybe?.. Bruh it won't even Fit on the kart.. unless it's like a 200cc V8.. which is wierd in its own..

Hi everyone, I recently got a full-time job offer and unfortunately that means I'll have less time to work on this.

I graduated from University recently and due to COVID heavily affecting my area, I was unable to find a job for quite some time, so I had a lot of time to work on old projects. Don't worry, this project won't get abandoned, it's just that progress updates are going to be less frequent.

    FIRST PUBLIC ALPHA RELEASE!
Added fuel tank, engine thermals and adjusted tire physics. No body kits yet and the JBeam structure is still a mess -- still need to split it up into parts before the public beta release.

Force feedback can be a little shaky during slides, gear driven wheels (G27, G29, etc) should turn up FFB smoothing a bit. This was only tested on a Fanatec belt driven wheel so please let me know how it is on Logitech and Thrustmaster wheels, as well as gamepad and keyboard. Wheel rotation should be 180 degrees (90 on either side) in case it doesn't auto adjust.

    Known issues:
    - Props (steering wheel, driveshaft) can disappear sometimes, use Ctrl+R to reload and fix.
    - Wheel shaking during hard slides

Hotfix 2020-09-10: fixed mod folder structure

Note that what is said is only after a few mins of messing around with the mod.

Regarding FFB: I have a G27 and I've not got any weird shaking, even during sliding. But I'd need to test more to make sure. It may also just be my FFB settings.

Other stuff: If you turn the wheel a lot when stationary and then press full throttle, the cart seems to not accelerate normally even once the wheel is straightened up again. I also managed to break off a front wheel by countersteering after initiating a massive slide (around 50 degrees).

Other than that, seems to be a pretty good mod. Well done!

I really appreciate the engine sound, but i have some questions:
-Will we be able to stop/start the engine?
-Could we do some crazy engine swaps (Go-kart engine Covet for example)?
    -Could the Kart be deformable?
-will we be able to see the Rpms?

    Thank you for responding!

Bugs: When you go into vehicle customization the steering wheel and driveshaft and pedals disappear.

Hi this my first post idk how to upload picture but on the left hand side of the kart floating in mid air is well i don't know what it is but it is connected to the steering wheel because when i turn left it goes in the floor and when i turn right it floats above kart but other than that this mod is perfect im suprised you released a wip this early :)

(edit: also the driver camera is slightly off centre and ai cars move straight through each other but that will happen with probably every mod this early)
