I have this issue where after opening a map everything works, except I can't see anything aside from UI apps and menus. The simulation happens, but, obviously, what's the point if I don't see anything?
Yes, cleared cache, reinstalled, and this issue also appears in safe mode.
I didn't get any problematic major updates, since it was all fine before.
Also, the game is running in proton compatibility thingie, but it doesn't seem to be the problem.
Please give me a solution if you know.
Also, when opening the game I have a black screen abnormally long before the logo appears, and the logo lasts for a shorter amount of time.

Edit: whoa tried 0.4.0.6dx9 the screen showed, but the truck was chrome and before loading stuff was giving me errors left and right. but, well, I don't want to play ancient BeamNG. Aside from that, it was perfectly functional and I think if I update stuff will break.

Double Edit: I had this issue in Automation too, but not in native Linux games, so it's a problem with proton.

Anothe one: So, I just reinstalled Wine, Steam, and just in case the Mesa thingie. (sudo apt install --reinstall [the package names I listed above])

Ok time to run through the standards

    What are your computer specs

Have you updated all of your drivers

Have you turned off msi afterburner and all overlays before launching the game

    t u r n i t o f f a n d o n a g a i n

Have you tried running an older version to see what version the problem starts at

Have you tried it on a different drive

    lets start with these

I don't have any MSI Afterburner and my drivers are all stock AMD Radeon 520 Drivers (In fact I had custom drivers but I reverted to older ones, removed anything related to them)
CPU is some mobile Core i5 a little less than 2GHz. (I am on a laptop).
    16GB RAM mismatched sticks
, but it was never problematic. none of this was giving me problems.
Oh, forgot to say, I am running it with Proton compatibility thingie, but I don't see any problem with that, plus if it was the problem many people will be complaining about a bug.

I don't think the software between the hardware is the problem, but rather something with the game, that I might have triggered.

Because it was perfectly fine with the game (aside from the game thinking that my batt is low and thinking I don't have the Radeon 520 despite it working perfectly)
Even after 0.20.2, it was all good, and the Proton thingie wasn't updated before the issue started.

Look into that graphics card issue. It could be running off your integreted graphics, and Beam doesn't like Intel graphics too much.

I dunno, I don't lag and the whole system detects AMD Radeon 520 so it's not the GPU problem

Also, I don't get crashes that often, unlike what's always complained about with stock beamng.

Its not that expensive, you can get a laptop with a decent gpu and cpu for like 900 bucks.

What model of laptop are you using?
In the future, keep this laptop in mind when you update. I'm a huge fan of Acer products, their laptops are superb. This one is reasonably priced, and you could probably do a little gaming on it as well.
Regarding the issue with your game, however, there's a lot of points of failure.
It sounds like you're using Linux, which isn't compatible with Beam in the first place. Beam can screw itself up if there's some wierdness in your user folder.
I'd check out that mismatched RAM as well.
And proton sounds like it's acting up regarding your GPU.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15" 3583, which I like mainly for the good keyboard and trackpad.
I will consider the laptop, although I might build a gaming PC if my dad will cooperate with the plan, because I don't want a laptop to be running at 90C for a couple of hours.
Yea, imma delete some stuff from user folder (obviously something that wont break it!, like deleting the settings file which, as I know, will be replaced, or can be reverse engineered and remade) and just in case I have a backup of it (worst case, clean install, maybe on a different machine).
Also, mismatched RAM is not a problem, it's the same spec and all, maybe even made at the same semiconductor plant.
For now I won't play BeamNG.

you can delete the entire userfolder, it wont hurt the game at all. youll just lose your mods and settings, so back those up in case that doesnt fix anything and you wanna keep them
