I mean in that case, couldn't you also call Edge a modern IE?

No, because the modern Edge uses Chromium. So its not based on IE at all. Mozilla Firefox exists because of members of Netscape founding it around 1998. Firefox began as an experimental branch of the Mozilla browser (which has origins in Netscape). Firefox is literally a successor to Netscape Navigator. In fact, the original Firefox looked and felt A LOT like Netscape Navigator, including in its menu layouts. These days if you want that kind of UI, Mozilla still offers SeaMonkey.

By this viewpoint, Mozilla has the oldest major, still maintained browser.

Well, I live in one of the worst parts of the US for it (New York state) and a large part of the problem is that people here often just ignore govt advice and don't social distance. So it spreads....

Please avoid talking about unconfirmed theories about vaccines and COVID. I'd like to remind you that you can check most information on your government websites. There is also official WHO website that can be helpful.

Finally was able to order a new wheel, a G29.
Gotta wait like 2 weeks now :(
My old G25's FFB gave up the ghost a couple of months ago and my driving with a controller is terrible.

I could have gotten a better wheel but i feel like a G29 (with some load cell pedals maybe) is perfectly ok and should be able to be competitive.

Today Logitech is released a new wheel:
It's called the G923, and looks just like a G29 lmao

they claim it now has TRUE FORCE or whatever, even tho the FFB system hasn't recieved any changes since the G27.

So over the past few days, I got curious again over a file format used internally at Probe Entertainment in the late 90's. Some leaked source code of theirs contains some of their internal files from their "Habitat" editor, which was never leaked along with it. Which means that if I wanted to see the data, I had to figure it out myself.

So I got to work digging into it and reverse engineering it, and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Oh, and it's also open source :)

The only thing to update everyone on from me is that on the 4th August after almost a Month delay due to COVID, I finally got my internet upgraded from a 80 down 20 up copper connection to a 150 down 30 up fibre connection, thats all I can add to the blog for now :)

    Art History or like Culinary^^

I wish I was smart enough to do Computer Science but according to people who decide whether you actually do it or not I'm not, so... yeah

Could you imagine what it would be like if Microsoft won the browser war? They would not only have a monopoly on the OS side but on the browser side as well. They could even have controlled the internet somewhat, the thought of that is pretty scary.

Well, I said that my RX 570 is working again, but that was yesterday. It hasn't been working until I finished some updates to my operating system, and it was working pretty much all day yesterday. I was able to record a BeamNG replay session with a camera path, and the completed video will be my entry to the next Official Cinematic Clip Contest.

    Today,
though, Windows once again isn't detecting the graphics card which is plugged into the motherboard and is connected via 6+2 to the power supply. All of the sudden! I am now obligated to send e-mail to AMD to see if they can help me solve this issue. If they tell me the card should be fine and it must be an OS problem instead, then I'll try Microsoft's support page. But without the functional drivers, I'm unable to launch Blender and do some more work on my SUV. :< Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

Holy shit I just felt an earthquake. That was crazy. Apparently a 5.1, never felt one before. For those curious I’m in North Carolina.

Rented a modern Ibishu Hopper in the weekend.
Really awesome offroad machine, could drive through anything. Mostly used it for exploring the "tracks" of a forest, which couldn't be done with the Jaguar.
Great for camping too, since the front seats can fold all the way down :D

Currently driving myself nuts collecting a bunch of irrelevant data from Forza Horizon 4. Specifically, I'm writing down multiple data points in a spreadsheet regarding different cars and engines and how they behave with different levels of modification. Peak power & torque, boost, percentage increase versus stock, power, torque, and RPM per displacement (never found a good way to represent the last one in a way that wouldn't be completely hecked by outliers like the Abarth 595), and so on.

I've been wanting to start modding Beam for a long, long time, and I figured the best way to start would be the way so many others already have; by making extra tuning parts for the cars already in the game. As it is, the upgrade system used so far by the developers actually seems vaguely similar to the one used in Gran Turismo 5 & 6 (only far more dependent on boost to get power out of most non-V8s), but I figured an engine-upgrade system based on the Forza franchise's would probably strike the best balance between giving some room for variation and not being too complicated to easily test or use. To that end, I wanted to see if Forza's system had any conventions or rules of thumb that would hold true across some/all cars and engines, and whether I liked those conventions enough to incorporate them into my own mods.

Three and a half cars into my planned thousand-car data collection project, I'm getting less and less hopeful. In fact, I'm now starting to wonder if Forza's turbo physics have any grounding in reality at all, after watching the 5.2L V10 engine swap pick up literally over 200 horsepower from the most basic possible turbo conversion which boosts at precisely 12.5 psi.

And now it just hit me that I also haven't been checking suspension mods to see what kind of suspension height, spring & damper stiffness, ARB stiffness, etc. constitutes a street, sport, or race level upgrade.

I bought another car. This time it's a 1965 Cadillac Coupe de Ville that I acquired for $250 at an auction. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with this one.

Drive it through the winter? Store it until next summer and daily drive it? Sell it once I get it running? Part it out and scrap the rest? No clue yet.
