I re-tuned the actual simulation performance to make the simulation more accurate, which means that the previous values on the race configuration are less "extreme". I might make them more extreme or make a separate configuration later, but it's already very unrealistic for a bus to have the performance that the version 5.1 race hybrid has.

    This
Simple, this update swapped the motor from a high-rev to a low-rev one.
Electric motor can be tuned just like an ICE, with "flexible" and "peaky" tuning.

The former has wider torque plateau, while the latter has higher maximum power.

The same applies to electric motor.

Well, the racing bus can be both realistic and fast. You could add more motors and/or increase the size of the turbo charger on the engine. I believe you currently have 1 motor for the race config so you could probably change the motor transmission ratio for a higher top speed if you added a second motor. I am not very familiar with drive trains and I am sure there are better ways to do this. This is just a way for me to say you can still keep the bus realistic.

The eCVT has two motors; it has to have exactly two because of how it works. I haven't implemented "secondary motors" (like what the real-life Highlander and RAV4 hybrids have on their real axles), but once I do, I could add another motor to the idle axle on the race bus and give it more torque.

How about moving the second motor to another axle. For example the ETK800 has ICE and MG1 in front and MG2 in rear

Due to the way the transmission works, they both have to be in the transmission (MG1 on the sun gear and MG2 on the ring gear). There would have to be a third motor that isn't part of the transmission like on Toyota's AWD hybrids.

Hey just wanted to let you know that turbo regend got broke with the latest update. :)
    --- Post updated ---
If you try to put in the turbo regen part the mod will crash. It still works without the Turbo Regen part (not really sure what that did by the way)

I've actually removed the turbo regen from the new version I'm working on getting ready. It wasn't really recovering a significant amount of energy to begin with, and I've noticed some slight performance/driveability gains from letting the turbo hang slightly spooled-up that outweigh any possible benefit from regen'ing it down to 0rpm.

Still working on some finishing touches to the new version of the hybrid system, but here's a quick preview video of the new version of the bus driving "1 - Star Diner"! The bus is way smoother and the performance/efficiency is more consistent across the board.

This is super neat! Love the work, I love seeing hybrids in BeamNG.

I can see the improvements very nice. :) Going to be working on the ETK800 next?

I've been working on both in parallel since the code is shared between them; I have a couple small surprises in the interior though that I've shared in Discord ;) I hope to submit the new version of both in the next couple days

    Suggestion: improve the throttle response
In your Hybrid ETK800/DT40L, the power is very laggy, which is unnatural. An easy way to check it is to display the engine info UI app and watch the wheel torque, the hybrid powertrain is laggy while the conventional NA engined vehicle is more instant. Another problem is at braking, the regen is also laggy, in fact, the friction brakes engage briefly then disengage when the regen finally engaged.
It just feel weird to have an electric lag more than ICE lag, electric drivetrain should have instant torque. I often commute or travel by bus. Nowadays most of the buses in my city are electric or hybird. The throttle response is no lag, the acceleration/deceleration is much more responsive than ICE/pneumatic brake

That was the main goal of the current rewrite I'm finishing up :)

It should have improved performance both in terms of throttle/brake response, and utilization of engine power.

Can't wait for the new version of the mod! The laggy powertrain response felt off to me, but I couldn't put my finger on it until someone pointed it out. Now, to be clear, is the mod broken right now, or are the problems on my end? This and a number of other mods (inc. Blackpool Superlite, but curiously not the ETK800 hybrid) have been throwing errors on spawn since 0.20 was released.

The bus and ETK worked for me on 0.20 right off-the-bat, but the ETK has issues with the part config due to the new vehicle loading changes. The parts are there, but don't show up in the UI. I fixed that in the new version I'm finishing up.

great innovative mod. one of the best mods on the repo.
1 small suggestion, can you put the locking diff back into the zebra bus?

I'll have to look into it; I was getting a lot of console errors after the 0.20 update saying that the locking differential part wasn't found, so I removed it from the config. It may have simply been renamed though; I'll look when I get a chance and see if I can release a hotfix. You can always add it to a custom config if it's still in the game.
