I wouldn't care if they called it the ford mach e. just drop the mustang. anyways, Ford has no idea what to do: They're trying to get us to like the "mustang" mach e, but nobody will. They released the fast one with the bodykit... nobody cares. Ford really should've had the name as something else from the beginning, because even changing it now won't do anything, the damage has been done.
correction: you won't ever like it. the thing is, that you, mr internet car enthusiast, are not the main demographic for the mach-e. the primary market is the middle-aged karens who want a generic electric crossover, but who are also dragged in by the "mustang" name because "that was a cool car when I was a kid!"
I remember reading an article where one of the Ford product planners said that a new name was exactly what they were going for, but the focus group testing revealed that "Mustang" resonated far better with the potential buyers. Also, it's funny to see people defend the "legend" of the original Mustang so hard, when it was just a less practical Falcon in drag, often ordered with the sixes that barely got it past 100 MPH.
in my opinion looks nice performance is probaly decent the name is just a big large no i will never consider that an mustang.
There are certainly risk going electric with such a name but there are also risks in not doing so. Of course you can keep building good selling gas guzzlers.... but if you are not careful you might be left empty handed when times are changing and the mainstream moves towards EVs. Those potential buyers will simple switch to Tesla when the times comes.
I agree there, but what you just did is bump a thread. The red warning reminds you not to post on a thread unless it's really important.
