So i finished my first ever 3D Car model in blender today, took me about 5 days to complete, and it was a pretty fun experience ngl. I made it low-poly on purpose, as i am interested in modeling cars in a low-poly form. I chose to model the 1990 Lexus LS400 just because its not as curvy as modern cars, so i figured it would be a good place to start. If theres any criticism on this, i will gladly take it so i can improve in the future! Edit: Im gonna post one pic of each car on this post every time i finish a car
im just doing it for fun, ive been wanting to 3D model my own cars for years now and i finally did it lol.
There is a way to smooth it out, but I actually dig the way it looks like that. Would fit well in the cartoon map Very cool.
I made a McLaren 570GT! It was really challenging in some spots to make (especially the rims that was a terrible experience), but i finished it, and in 3 days too, which is 2 days less than the Lexus above, which was much less challenging to make than this McLaren. Even though i was learning how to do all of this on the Lexus, im surprised i did this in 3 days. I hope yall like it!
lol well theres no interior/engine detail and the bottom isnt closed off so its kinda incomplete but if it ever became a mod that would be cool
Its honestly a simple process, you just have to find a blueprint, align the vertices with the blueprint, and just fill in the faces. Now obviously its more than that but thats the majority of it (for me at least). You just have to make sure youre as accurate as possible. Heres the link to the vid where i learned all of this:
I've found that blueprints can be wildly inaccurate -- often by significant margins. I think most of my time spent modeling is just trying to dial in dimensions.
I dont blame you, ive experienced that on my blueprints as well. I just yolo it and if its like really off i try and figure it out based on reference images to the best of my abilities, and its worked out alright so far. --- Post updated --- Okay so i know what i want to model next: The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar. Theres one problem tho: its a convertible, and i dont want to confuse myself with making an interior, cause im already confused on how would i make it. I dont really want to spend the time trying because i know itll be really hard to be accurate and making it is another story. So my solutions are: Make the car, and leave the interior empty except the seats, or just make it a coupe, cause theres a side render of the Bacalar that turned the car into a coupe. So i might use that side render picture to help me make this car become a coupe. Yall think thats a good idea? Heres the pic of the actual car and the coupe render of it:
Yup, that's true. Other than just having a blueprint, it's a good idea to have as many reference photos of the vehicle as possible & to take a few moments to get to know the vehicle in more detail, like the distance between certain body fixtures, where they are located, how they exactly look etc.
Thats exactly what im dealing with rn with the Bacalar. Theres just so many curves in the body that theres barely enough reference photos for the car. I had to use Shmee150's video on the car to see a hood line clearly.
