This will probably be a huge update. The pickup crawler/prerunner, the new port/industrial map, a west coast usa edit, bolide remaster, and the 3rd stage of the pickup/roamer/van update. --- Post updated --- I cant find the beamng discord (sorry for offtopic)
I guess it's time for someone to do this... I don't really keep up with the discord stuff or optimization news, so I'll edit in anything anyone else remembers... H-Series content: The D-Series already got a big update, the Roamer doesn't need much. That just leaves the van. Plus, This comment Port/Industrial remaster: There's been some talk of it and multiple teasers. We get at least one map remaster every update now, so no reason to think we won't get these WCUSA Changes and Optimizations: See last page Superpig: The single cab dove nose/tail IFS/Solid axle is in game with WIP textures. I can't imagine they would release half of it in one update and half in another, unless it's released in a hotfix after the update. That sounds fairly likely actually, since we still haven't seen the final textures, widebody, extended cab, or crew cab. So maybe this should be orange... D-Series i6 improvements: See This Pessima Race Livery: It was teased, I see no reason we won't see it Vehcile Material Updates: Camera Path Tool Improvements Tire updates: See this More ESC updates + torque vectoring: We know it's being worked on, the other cars need the fancy stuff the FCV got Audio Ray Tracing & other improvements: We know it's on their wishlist Roamer content additions: We probably will see some small stuff since the D/H-Series is being worked on, but I'm putting this in orange since nothing big is confirmed. There's some possibilities for stuff though. Wendover: Only if development goes ahead at ludicrous speed. We just got a car in the last update, so two updates in a row would be pushing it even for a vehicle that will probably be low on content. Other Vehicle Remasters: This combined with confirmed/probably vehicle content would be a lot of stuff for one update. Other map updates: Industrial and Port probably kept the team busy enough Development limbo stuff: See definition of development limbo. Edits: Thanks @CaptainZoll
It's cool to see that WCUSA isn't just getting optimization but also lots of added details and changes! so far spotted more trees in the background mountains, expanded highway, fences around the oil rigs and some texture changes. It seems the unplayable area just where the new overpass begins has been heavily changed and lighting reflections on the car also look different.
This change does look to improve the horrible flow this part of the map used to have, personally i would also just change that one dirt corner into asphalt to exit the highway with a higher speed. That corner always was a big headache when driving on this map.
Being one of the people who originally hyped this up, I have to say: I don't think we have any evidence to prove that the I6 is getting an update, other than the that the D-series gets plenty of work done to it recently, the I6 doesn't look as good as the V8, and the I6 is shared across 4 cars (I think?), so updating it would be more impactful than, say, updating the Covet's engine. And the torque curve- rock crawl connection I made a few pages back, that is also not really anything but wishful thinking. ...still hoping, though. Also hoping for the Covet
Nope the gavril inline 6 is only used in 3 models, the D series, H series and the roamer. Plus you talk about the ibishu inline 4 not being important, that engine model can be found in 3 cars aswell. the covet, the blobby pessima and the 200bx
I'm just shocked to see work being done on WCUSA so soon. Hopefully it comes with a few behind-the-scenes optimization tricks to make it run a little more smoothly, even with the new mesh. 'Creepy' isn't really a design direction I can see the official BeamNG team choosing to take (swamp shack excluded). I suppose if it's just a matter of dripping water and a few flickering lights, then by all means bring it on. If by 'creepy' you mean weird symbology, puddles of blood, sewer clowns and killer robots dressed up as animals, then you may be playing the wrong video game. I can't see that corner being changed to asphalt given the 'under construction' nature of that segment of the map - but I can see a potential switch to gravel taking place at some point. Either way, that's not really meant to be a high-speed corner.
well this was just unesscary. Firstly, welcome to the update speculation thread, where we...speculate about updates. Please provide useful content or thoughts to the thread instead of shitposting
That would certainly be.... Something... I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to a robot clown hidden in a corner of a subway, but... I love the Utah tunnels, but I hate how there's nothing hidden in there, it would've been the perfect place to put an abandoned silver Bolide behind a boarded up wall for example. If we get a subway, the number of references they could squeeze in is huge. For example, reference the any number of abandoned trains that were found and rumored to still be buried in the countless abandoned NYC subway tunnels, or a cold war fallout shelter (those things are everywhere in NYC if you know how to spot them), or so on... There's so much cool stuff buried under older American cities to pick from, they really are cities built ontop of cities. I love the little details like easter eggs, they add so much to a game map IMO. Currently I don't know of many in BeamNG maps... Just some references in the graffiti and the Civetta reference in Italy. Yes I know I'm talking a lot about east coast cities for a discussion of WCUSA, but it's what I'm familiar with. --- Post updated --- It has it as an option but it's only used on the vantastic, not any factory configs.
Here's most of the discussion. After a few minutes of talking about racing lines we get to the video.
One thing i hope they change/fix in the WCUSA revamp: Basically, the road here is "closed", yet it leads to the underside of a highway bridge, meaning it can never be opened, which means the road need not exist in the first place
OR, it could lead into a tunnel to somewhere? it's wishful thinking, sure, but it's possible. torque vectoring (part of ESC/drivemodes) vehicle material optimisations (see development media) camera path tool- camera position cuts updated waypoint model/textures JRI overhaul audio ray tracing audio sample template system and for general unfounded speculation, what's the possibility that the roamer gets more parts, perhaps shared with the van?
Easter eggs would be quite cool, I kinda oppose creepy easter eggs though since I'm a scaredy-cat lmao. Like maybe a black Barstow in Utah symbolizing Mad Max, maybe a broken B-17 Bomber in JRI, and even a broken Wendover model in Derby (far-fetched, yes I know) .
