Hello, I recently got Beamng Drive and love it!

I'm just getting into cars and I really like the built in vehicle configuration tool, and have started to make a personalized covet. Unfortunately, I am having issues with the transmission, specifically the 6-speed manual.

I put the stage 3 variable boost turbo on it and balanced everything out (heavy long block, ultra light flywheel, gt exhaust, race adjustable ecu, etc). I also went under "tuning" and put the waste gate pressure to 20psi.

The engine itself runs fine, but if you floor it the car can't shift up quick enough. I understand what most of the tuning options do, but have trouble when it comes to gear and differential ratios.

So what should the new 6-speed ratios look like (assuming I should stick with the 6-speed)? And is there anything else I should do to fix this (such as messing with the engine rpm)?

    Thanks for your time,

Are you using the Arcade transmission mode? Since you said that as if the car shifts by itself even though it has a manual transmission, which probably is your problem

Thanks for getting back to me.

I forgot to mention that this is in arcade mode, not manual.

If I give the vehicle a manual 6-speed transmission and have it in arcade mode it will shift automatically for me.
If I have it in manual mode, and not arcade, the issue is not as bad.

Would changing the gear ratios allow the arcade mode to shift more effectively?

    Thanks,

does the car wheelspin a lot, or anything like that? the arcade gearbox sometimes gets confused with things like that.

I don't think so. It probably has a set value, so you would need to mess around with the game files to get it to shift quicker or better

Thanks for the feedback. There is no wheel spin. The engine just redlines and revs for about a second before up-shifting.

That's what I'm starting to think. Either I don't have something tuned properly, or the arcade mode can't shift quick enough.

If I put in a 4-speed automatic or 4-speed manual the car runs just fine. If I have to I will just leave it with one of those.

I am just grasping how a lot of this stuff works, so there is a possibility that I have just made a simple mistake. I might be able to make a clip of the problem and post it here?

    Thanks for the advice,

That won't help anything. As I said earlier, your only option is to modify the respective piece of game code, but it would probably return to normal each game update, so you would need to replace it every time yourself again

Well that's a bummer. Thanks for letting me know about the updates though. I don't want to do that process repeatedly.

I guess I will stick with a different gearbox or just use manual mode more often then.

    I appreciate the help, thanks

Switch back to the stock flywheeel and the 6 speed will shift for you. If you don't understand gear ratios don't touch the transmission and stick to the differential ratio. The diff changes all the gears at once without screwing up the ratio progression.
