    More stupid car stories...

So, this truck is on my local craigslist now... It's... Interesting...

Found a couple of nice vehicles at dealerships, but I really don't want a dealership car... Nearly bought a low mileage 2010 Hemi WK today, it certainly was a beautiful car. Same color as my old one, just a chrome grille instead of black and the wheels were the size of the stock ones (Still nt sure why they have such small wheels from the factory... The oversized ones on my old one looked so much better and it drove fine with them). I just can't bring myself to pay so much more than an identical for sale by owner car would be...

Not much on local craigslist lately for some reason either... Texted a guy about an '78 Camaro... Objectively impracticle, stupid and dangerous, but it's a Camaro.

My favorite car dealership story this time around so far was the clueless salesman... Base model 2007 Jeep WK, the guy insists it's a fully loaded 2012 Patriot he wanted $15k for (by 2012 the Grand Cherokee's were on the WKII generation...) Nothing I said would get this guy to change his mind. Not pointing out the badges, not pointing at the actual 2012 Patriot he had at the other end of the lot... Absolutely nothing...

Edit: 5mn after posting this I found a 2012 Grand Cherokee for cheap... Sounds way too good to be true (9k, worse equiped ones usually go for $13k here... Maybe he just really wants it gone...), but I'm going tomorrow to look at it.

Also, if anyone wants to see that craigslist post...

Well hopefully this is the last update of my personal saga...

Insurance company said it looks like I was just caught in the middle of two accidents, which is why it was such a mess from my perspecive. Thankfully it wasn't too bad for me, considering it was on the highway and traffic was moving quick. Still pissed I wasn't allowed to fix my old Jeep, that truck treated me well and the frame rails weren't even scratched, so I doubt it would've been that bad to fix... She was in another front end crash with the previous owner, and every WK I looked at was as well... I guess I should take that as a sign to stay away from old SUVs, as much as I love them.

My parents fell in love with a 2008 Shelby GT500 at a bankrupcy auction last week, so we went halfsies on a low mileae 2007 5 speed Mustang GT. 4.6L, cragar wheels... So I guess we will be sharing that for a year, by then I'll hopefully be working full time for the company I'm interning with atm and I can get something more sensible for a daily driver.

PS: To the countless people posting base models on craigslist as "fully loaded"... Please stop...

That's barely any bigger than a kei car, yet it isn't a kei car. What an odd find indeed. I like it though.

That's a very interesting car. Very unique especially with such low miles. 4wd? Manual transmission?

yeah, it's quite wide actually but very short
it's a manual transmission rwd model, i know a lot of people use these for off-roading but around here i have no need for it so it'd probably be in rwd all the time anyway lol

Yes, I'm replying to an old comment. People care the most about safety, yet they drive bulky SUVs that roll over in every corner that is more than 5 degrees and Teslas with their Autopilot having an urge to kill you.

I think they are referring to the reputation Hyundai had in the 1990s as terrible cars. Personally I don't like Hyundai compared to other brands, but they have good warranties.

I'm still bitter about the fact that my local dealerships's salespeople won't even let you look at the generally great trade-ins they have for sale, because "you don't want that, you want something with a 10 year warranty"... Bah...

Aside from that... The new Sonota seems to be a great appliance car from what I've seen. Questionable front end styling (as is common nowadays), but it has some good angles and seems to be extremely well equiped for the price. And it has those blind spot cameras which I still say need to be mandatory on new cars. The current Genesis lineup seems good as well. Again, the grilles tend to be rough...

I recently patched a tire on a 2010 Elantra. It didn't seem like a bad car, but everything felt cheap. The gauges reminded me of a Chinese scooter. The plastics were somehow worse feeling than the plastics in the Suburban. It drove ok during the brief drive around the parking lot and it seemed good at doing "car things" but didn't feel sturdy.

Except the G80s, which are cathing fire on their own, but it's just a tiny little thing, nothing can stop people from buying shitty cars! Also an (ex?) e-friend of mine once told me that his old family car was replaced by a Tucson. He told me so much things that I felt the same hatred for it as he did.

the only Hyundai that I liked design-wise was the i40 estate. but the powertrains available traditionally consist of pitiful NA I4s only

Thoughts on the little Z-car teaser Nissan put out? technically it's just a concept/upcoming car showcase but the main focus was the Z, I think.

looks pretty good so far. as long as they have a manual transmission optional, (after all it is a lower-end sports car, the one area that needs a manual if any)
i don't see where they could go wrong.

CVT. Nissan likes to get rid of any other transmissions that aren't unreliable Jatco CVTs.

Yeah, yuck. You'd have to PAY me to accept a Nissan CVT, and even then I'd be reluctant.

From what I can tell they aren't too difficult to rebuild, but they need to be rebuilt at 50,000 miles in some cases.

In 90% of utilitarian driving, a CVT is the best, smoothest option. That being said, I will mail a raw chinook salmon to Nissan’s product planning division if they remotely TRY to give it a CVT.

All of Nissan’s CVTs are transverse at this point, so it’s probably going to be a ZF or Aisin longitudinal automatic. I doubt that Nissan would invest in making their own when better ones exist for the same or slightly greater cost. Since the transmission seems to be outsourced, and there’s no outsourced/shared platform, I think a 6MT is reasonably likely.
