So I am new to modding in general, so I figured i'd start out (somewhat) easy by just making a simple engine mod for the D-Series of the Ford 4.9 Inline 6. I have been looking at tutorials and have been having issues finding the proper .jbeam file to make new values and etc. in notepad/code. I was going to use the base 4.1 inline 6 in many vehicles and edit the values and whatnot. If someone would be so kind to point me in the right direction, i'll be looking forward to getting this made real. Thank you!
It's in \Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\vehicles\common.zip\vehicles\common\pickup In there, search for "pickup_engine_i6.jbeam" & edit it in Notepad++ as otherwise you will be saving it as a .txt which isn't suitable for BeamNG To get the mod engine to work, you need to create folders in the "mods" folder in "C:\Users\yourusernamehere\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods\"; their structure should look like "\unpacked\D-Series_engine_mod\vehicles\pickup". Drop the aforementioned .jbeam file into there & start going to town on it. You should change the name of the mod in the second line in the code, from e.g. pickup_engine_I6 (or whatever it's called) to pickup_Fordengine_I6. Other than that, the rest of the code is pretty much self-explainable, so you probably won't have issue telling what value does what
In the folder there is no pickup_engine_i6.jbeam to be found. It is in every other vehicle that has the i6, but for some reason not the pickup. Any reason behind this? Could it be an issue on my end?
Searched that and there is no .jbeam for any engine as a matter of fact. Every other vehicle I search has their engines listed, but the pickup doesn't. So now i'm just confused.
