Just gonna yeet my ass under the bus here, and say I am the idiot who didn't know the difference between meshslap and edited jbeam, and ignorantly called the Alpha a meshslap

    Edit
It honestly depends on the fitment, but for the most part, just let those who wanna risk their computers growing legs and crawling up the wall like in the exorcist by going on World of Mods go there, eventually they should receive the message. Also, I didn't know that RR3 models could even be accessed

A little off-topic, but sort of relevant given the discussion of meshes. If you were to take a mesh from a game like Forza, even with credit, it still would technically be stolen because you didn't explicitly get permission from Turn 10, right?

I'll admit, my Viano is an absolute crapslap that deserves to be sent far into space so no-one can ever see it again. To be honest, all my old mods belong deep at the bottom of the WoM bin.

Anyway, here is my opinion on meshslaps:
I can see why some people hate them, especially if little to no work has been put into the jbeam and other things that make it drive and crash more realistically. I personally only make them just so I can get my favourite cars (and least favourite ones too, so I can smash them up) in BeamNG, not to show them off and spit "oH yOu cAnT hAvE iT iTs pRiVatE" in someone's face when they ask for it. (In fact, sometimes I give mine to people, because I don't really mind if they get reuploaded). I only make meshslaps for personal use, and not to flood the community screenshots and development screens with my sh*tty mods. If I was going to release a mod on the forums or the repo, I would put far more work into it than I already do, and make it as realistic as possible and make it crash as best as it possibly could. Sometimes I edit jbeams if I feel like it, but again, the mods I make are only for my use, and not much effort is put into them, so I don't always spend a lot of time on them. There are many good meshslaps out there, like @Nekkit's Lada Car Pack and Porsche 944 (and much more mods by a range of people), but it's obvious why some mods are kept private, as they are just plain awful mods made by Russian kids who don't have anything better to do.

The majority of people who make meshslaps find scratch jbeaming difficult, and opt for the easiest option, which is of course meshslapping. I have nothing against meshslapping (if I did I would be a massive hypocrite), but I think that the Russian mods made by Russian people *cough 58_gram cough* are very bad mods with hardly any effort put into anything apart from the materials, just so the Russian kids that I mentioned earlier can show them off in the community screens, trying to draw attention to themselves, just so they can tell the people that PM them "nO itS a pRivAte MOd YoU cAnT HaVe iT HahAhaH"

So my final point is this; If a meshslap has a heavily modified and edited jbeam, and realistic driving physics and actual effort has been put into it, then it is a good mod worthy of a forum/repo release. If, like mine, a meshslap has hardly any work put into it and a lightly stretched jbeam, then it should not be released and probably kept private. If a meshslap has no work put into it and is made in 10 minutes by a Russian, then it should stay on modsgaming and WoM where only 9 year olds that want a Lamborghini in their mods folder can get their hands on it.

Crap, I just spent half an hour writing this...

Why don't you be more descriptive about your opinion rather than three words, as it doesn't reflect your idea in very much detail?

The ae86 mod is a really well balanced car, probably one of the easiest rwd cars to drift in with some slight suspension tuning in beamng along with the brz, certainly better than the 200bx imo. That just goes to show the high amount of effort put into a mod originally based on the 200bx jbeam.

I think he was trying to say "They are poor quality and are harmful to legitimate modders who actually put effort into their mods"

Only thing I see meshslaps useful for is taking screenshots. Because sometimes you need some cars that are inexistant, for example European models or some SUVs, to take accurate photos. That's some my opinion.

personally, i have close to 15 meshslaps . yes its a sad thing. They all have working interior stuff, and most of them have good edited jbeam. do i want to release them? yes. Can i ? no. I do them because i want to have different variety of cars in Beam, other than old boaty muscle cars. Also, on some of them, i add extra parts, like bumpers, wheels, spoilers, etc. It kinda feels like trash when you cant share them.Oh yea, and i dont like to reffer to them as meshslaps, its like still using the word cringe in 2020. More like "mesh imported from a different game that uses beamng vanilla cars structure and mechanics. I tend to believe that those basic Beamng youtubers started the private mod era of BeamNG , with 12 year olds being hella thirsty to get them, so they made more, just to give to youtubers. Nowadays, having a pruvate mod, or meshslap, its vecame a sterotypical thing so that it has to be terrible. On my opinion forums changed alot in the past 1,5 years, uts become the "bad quality toxic" era of forums. it is what it is i guess..
Also, just so you spot the difference:

    Trash, worthless meshslap

good "meshslap" that has a somewhat good jbeam, nicer textures and correct specs.:

Hopefully nobody steps on me for saying this, but I've noticed a big correlation between the amount of furry profile pictures and the amount of toxicity over the months/years...

I don't see why anybody should care. Those type of mods are not particularly interesting content and if you're jealous of the people using them, just take the 10 minutes out of your day to do it yourself.
I should clarify that I'm working under the assumption that "meshslap" simply means "slapping" a model ripped from another game onto the jbeam of a vaguely related car that exists in Beam.

not everyone has skills in blender or whatever other program you use, so imo it would probably take at least half an hour to an hour to get it in.

Well it isn’t some salty kid’s place to decide what can go into community screenshots, so please just appreciate the picture and leave your wants out of it.

What i honestly think about these private mods is that they are fine because some are 'bad quality' but i understand that it's very annoying that creators spam the sheit out of them to attract attention, but showing off a private mod isn't a good idea since it's private and you do NOT wanna show off a mod like that. And if you do you'll get comments like ' Hey where did you get that awsome mod?','can i pls get that mod what site do you use?' and many more comments based on these, and whats the purpose of showing off a private mod? Flexing? But one unfair thing is that somebody makes a private mod and somehow famous BeamNG.Players/Youtubers have acces to them? I feel thats really just unfair but it's my opinion.
