My friend made a severely underpowered luxury car mod in Automation and I was looking to put a more powerful engine in it. How do I do this without Automation?

So for example if you downloaded a mod (you have my permission to use one of mine), you can go into the documents/beam.ng/mods/VEHICLENAME.zip/vehicles/VEHICLENAME where VEHICLENAME in this case is the vehicle you want to take the new engine from.
Next you need to find the Camso_engine.jbeam file.
Now all you need to do is copy and paste this file into the files of this underpowered luxury vehicle, through the same process documents/beam.ng/mods/LUXURYVEHICLENAME.zip/vehicles/LUXURYVEHICLENAME.

there is no reason why this should not work however it will overwrite the Camso_engine.jbeam file that the luxury vehicle is exported with.

to avoid this, rename the file you are adding to the luxury cars file to something else.

If you want both engines to show up with different names in the beamng part selector, go into the jbeam file (using notepad) of the renamed engine file, near the top there is a line that I think says “name”: “Car Engine” or something like that. Change “Car Engine” to something else.

if you don’t want to modify the original vehicle files in anyway you can simply go to documents/beam.ng/vehicles and create a new folder called LUXURYVEHICLENAME where LUXURYVEHICLENAME is the name of the zipped file of the luxury car exported from automation. Must be exactly the same.
after creating that file simply place the Camso_engine file from VEHICLENAME in this new folder.
