American All-Stars DLC is out (3 american cars) and the tournament update. It looks like mostlymultiplayer stuff, so... Yay anti-social players... At least there's a new map.
Years of World of Tanks left a bad taste in my mouth for multiplayer That win 20 multiplayer races achievement is the only one I don't have, which is annoying me... Looking at the subreddit, it looks like the tornament update is a bit of a mess. Apperently the requirements are ridiculously difficult to get any rewards. *World of Tanks flashbacks*
It just looks like another career to me since the players aren't competing against each other directly. Kinda fun concept. But it's just the bots so far?" Unless I missed something. I understand you compete against other players to get higher scores, but I personally would prefer to play against other players \
I initially thought it was a proper tournament, it is against AI but some give points depending on where you are in the world leaderboard. These challenges are really difficult though. According to a reddit user, it's impossible to get enough points to get all 3 rewards in one season. If you want all 3 you just need to wait and hope the ones you miss are rewards for a future season. The individual challenges are difficult too. A good run on the season challenge is a fair bit below bronze, around a score of 600k. Number one on the leaderboards is 48 million on PC right now. So, good luck getting higher than bronze. The normal chllenges are difficult too. For example, 40 wrecks in 3mn in a bumper car demo derby. IMO it's just way too difficult. I like wreckfest as a casual arcade game, not some crazy difficult competition where you need to play 3 hours a day every day just to get a shark skin for the roadcutter... And why are DLC cars available to race against in tournament but not normal races?..
This is another topic entirely which is probably controversial and I won't go deep into it, but probably because you wouldn't want to buy it if you could race it where you wanted to against who you wanted to. Moving on, You should consider the quarantine smash tournament if you can stand the pain of joining a team with 3 other people lol.
It should be easy enough to make the DLC cars appear as oponents/spawn sets iff you own the DLC. Without a spawnset for the special event vehicles they are mostly useless in single player as the only way to race them is against the lawnmower.
So Tournament Mode has been around for a little while now, and I think things are starting to look up. Right after Bugbear took care of some serious early issues (namely, bugs that kept certain players from playing some or all challenges, and a ridiculous initial cheating problem), they started to gradually improve Tournament Mode. Don't get me wrong, it's still a crazy struggle because of the way it's set up, especially in the weekly and seasonal challenges. But it seems like some of the 'daily' challenges are becoming a little more achievable. I'm not a fan of the 'Score Streak' challenges at all (and by extension the weekly/season challenges because they're based on the same system) because they're at least partially luck-based, given that they require both AI cars to be in just the right spot inside a tight time limit (can't hit what isn't there!) and for the suspect scoring system (still not sure why some front-to-front hits are head-ons worth 100pts, and some are shunts worth 10pts). To be honest, I really hope that there's some sort of alternate derby thrown into the mix that's based on the Last Man Standing format instead of the Deathmatch (maybe your finishing position multiplied by your score for final results?) All in all, it has breathed a little bit more life into the game. They're keeping it fresh with challenges like taking the school bus in the opposite direction of opposing traffic, whacking honey pots with a lawnmower, and letting users test out the DLC cars (I have found I've got a soft spot for the bumper car. I hope they let us test out the Wingman, Li'l Thrasher, and Outlaw soon).

Well, Season one has wrapped up for me. Final score: 28,640 Fame points. I've bought the Dirt Bomber skin for the Rammer, and am hoping that my remaining 18.640 points will carry over into next season (Bugbear is really bad at communicating these things). My big problem was chronically placing at bronze in daily demolition derby events (and the weekly challenges). Occasionally I'd get silver, and one a few memorable tries, gold, but the nature of the Score Streak system meant I was powerlessly watching my multiplier tick down as cars I was about to hit shifted a few feet out of my way. How did everyone else do? Did anyone manage to get the 30,000 points needed for the Doom Rig? Did anyone buy the Meat Grinder Bundle? Has anyone heard rumors about what happens next?
I only did one event in the last season... Life is far too busy to be be bothered with a grind, especially in a casual arcade racer. Fired up wreckfest for the first time to take a look at the new season... Was met with a "congradulations, you're in the top 37 percentile for Season 1"... I only did 2 events on the first day...
I hosted a multiplayer tournament of epic proportions. 16 teams consisting of 64 drivers for one night of smashin!
Got the new Venom. I love it, even if it is 81 performance points lower than the standard one and not a greenwood vet. I gotta say, I've been absolutely loving this mode now that the requirements are reasonable for the genre and it isn't a stupid grindfest anymore.
I still love the Bandit, but there are a lot of good cars in this game for multiple reasons. Never felt like a grindfest to me. I wish they would bring back repair costs. I have no idea what to do with my credits. Do you want some of mine? I would gladly give up some.
Yeah... There isn't enough credits to go around if you're a collector but don't play multiplayer, especially now that they removed the lawnmower money grind, and the free market mod is a bit wonky. I only have 3 cars left to buy/upgrade at least.
Ah, I have always played multiplayer, since pre-alpha first came out. And I never did the mower thing and it wouldn't feel right using the free market mod. But I've got plenty of credits, that's for sure.
So this dropped https://www.reddit.com/r/Wreckfest/comments/hmwch1/banger_bash_mode_and_new_car_pack_trailer/ http://community.bugbeargames.com/threads/tournament-update-banger-bash.14189/ New DLC pack and two free update tracks, both of which finally include stuff that one might see at a local track (hope that keeps coming, I want flagpole races, trailer races, blindfolded taxi cab races, etc...) Tournament 3 with a Panther RS reward There is a single sentence that suggests there might be a second season pass, as this concludes the first.
