Then you haven’t been here long enough. People who make there super cool cars like Lamborghinis and Ferraris are known not to go through with their project completely from scratch. Usually it’s made with a model they stole or slapped their mesh onto a Bolide jbeam. It never works out. Don’t like the people who make this kind of content just because their making a super car. It takes time and effort to make something truly awesome. People who actually make cool cars with great work are people like @Driv3r1142 with the Gavril Vendetta and @Sithhy™ with the Brutus B1. I would’ve liked for @yannis01186 to make that Lamborghini the right way but it’s just too good to be true here. They never get released.
Yes, I agree that lying about the origins of a mesh is absolutely wrong but Yannis wasn't going to use a bolide jbeam and he extensively modified the entire geometry, uvs, textures, along with some modifications to the suspension. When Yannis makes a mod, he uses the proper pre-existing jbeam and edits it into oblivion, like the brz or rx7
you say that, but so far all he has done is make mods using minimally modified 200BX jbeam and lie about a mesh (moving nodes is not modification if literally no other attributes of the jbeam structure are changed, that's just a lazy hackjob)
While I wouldn't go as far as to say he just moved nodes (taking a quick glance at both brz and 200bx body jbeams there are some obvious changes in values and the triangles groups are a little different), any other changes would have been mostly unnecessary given how well the brz drives (and crashes pretty well) in its current state. It still is a mod with a good amount of effort put into it. Of course, the etk k series jbeam may have been a bit more appropriate.
He may have not used the Bolide jbeam but it was still an edited 200BX jbeam. If it isn’t scratch made then it’s done wrong in many eyes. Yes the BRZ and RX7 were edited to oblivion, but it’s still considered a mesh slap.
Starting with a dev made jbeam and properly changing values ensures a higher quality outcome if the effort needed is put in. also Even you approved of this mod, so i think it's a little hypocritical of you to say that
The only time I would consider a mod a meshlap is when someone plops a J-beam from a vehicle to another and is left unchanged. There are plenty of good mods that use modified J-beams from other vehicles (like for example the Oldsfullsize was based on a modified Moonhawk J-beam).
Bruh. The reason they are called meshSLAPS is because they throw a model onto a Jbeam with little to no work done. Like how a SLAP (done to a human) is done in an extremely quick manner, meshslaps are done in an extremely quick manner. Those were not done in an extremely quick manner. Those are not considered meshslaps. I don't get how you classify them as meshslaps. --- Post updated --- Also, like how SlickNick924 pointed out, in the screenshotted post, you use one of the mods in a manner to compliment them and say that they had lots of work done to them. Here, you are trying to use it to insult yannis (which did also did something wrong). What yannis did with the Murcielago wasn't right. But don't act like he didn't put effort into it.
That’s not how it works. Using a jbeam with a different powertrain and handling doesn’t make it a “higher quality”. Making it from scratch ensures high quality as it’s made to fit that specific car. Hunting down a quote I said back in March just to prove a point makes no sense. Just because it’s good in my eyes doesn’t mean it’s good in other people’s eyes. And just because I approved of it back in March doesn’t mean I still approve of it now. Yes they were cool mods but there were cool mods of their time when they were new. That point I was proving there was to show that there are different quality meshslaps, I never said that those mods were deemed “dev quality”. Oldsfullsize was made in 2016-2017 when not too many people made full on scratch made everything. Doesn’t count in a situation like this when the author claims that the model and jbeam were “made from scratch”. --- Post updated --- Things that I consider a “meshslap” is a mesh that isn’t scratch made by the author. People have different definitions for it. Mine are strictly set to my opinions.
First off, I didn't hunt down your quote. I simply came across it when looking for varying opinions on mesh slaps to back up my argument. It just seemed a bit hypocritical . Also, it should not be a matter of time when the mod was new less than a year ago. Also, it does work like that when you know how to jbeam properly. You can properly edit node weights and positions to alter the center of gravity for example. Also, it's pretty easy to modify the powertrain so not sure what point you were trying to make there. An example of why he may have chosen the 200bx as a starting point is because they both macpherson front struts suspensions and multilink rears. If edited properly like this has been, then a car can handle really well and have pretty good crash physics.
I’m going to say this again, just because it’s good in my eyes doesn’t mean it’s good in other people’s eyes. I didn’t have a problem with yannis making the Mercielago until Dummiesman explained that it wasn’t his model. I’m not in the wrong here. If you want to argue with me over my personal values that’s all you. But we shouldn’t probably go on any further due to this being off topic. In the end we all know that the Mercielago wasn’t going to pan out well. Are we done here?
Then don't say "considered to be a meshslap" if it's based off of your opinions. Others have different ones. To others, it isn't considered a meshslap. In that previous post, you said it like its still considered a meshslap without saying that it was your opinion, which makes it seem like you mean the community. --- Post updated --- oops I wrote into the quote lol
Generally, when asking questions about a mod/thread that has disappeared, it is best to PM the author, instead of going offtopic on another one of their threads. This helps us avoid flamewars like this.
Omg, what have I started xD. In my opinion the brz and the rx-7 aren't meshlaps because much work has gone into conifgurations, sounds, Jbeam, model (it's still not that easy to port a model into beam/blender and do a good job at it). Just my opinion . Also, I didn't know if it was the right decision to instantly PM him, I thought other people might know more about this. The thread was pretty dead anyways... .
Wasn’t really a flamewar, just a misunderstanding. I still respect @SlickNick924 and anyone else that was involved. No hard feelings, I could really care less about it and same goes for Nick.
