    Hello everybody,

i decided to post this issue here in the forums incase anyone can help me - i already did the usual troubleshooting steps such as removing all mods, restarting in safe mode, reinstalling the game, but had no luck so far.

Ever since the 0.19.1 Update i have a really wierd audio bug. Whenever a missfire crack / exhaust pop happens with the Cherrier FCV Plattform, i get an annoying and loud audio artifact that sounds like another, non-fitting and overmodulated crack sound. Edit: Previously in 0.19.0 when the vivace was just added, i did not have this issue and the car sounded fine-

The Issue seems to arise not with every engine, however:
There are no Problems with the 1.6l i4 with stock ECU, and neither are with the 2.0l i4 with stock ECU (C270 and C310).
The 1.6l with E230 or Race ECU does have the issue, the 2.0l i4 with any tuned (Stage 1/2/3) or Race ECU has it aswell. It does not seem to matter which exhaust is used.

The 2.5l I5 works fine and has no audio bugs regardless of ECU and other tuning. Obviously, as the i3 and the diesels do not produce any missfire, ther arent affected aswell.

Finally, i attached a video that shows the issue - i apologize for the wierd aspect ratio as i usually do not handle screen recording software. But the most important thing - the audio - seems to work fine. Please note how the Vivace 230S aswell as the Race (2.0l Race) and Rally (1.6l Race) Version have the bug, while the two Arsenic Variants (2.0l Stock and 2.5l Stock) and the Hillclimb (2.5l Race) sound fine.

Yes, I also am having this issue.

However, I get that same noise in the 1.6 and the 2.0 Vivace, as well as in the 1.8 and 2.0 I4's of other cars such as the 200BX, Covet, Old Pessima, and Sunburst.

As I am a huge sound whore, I would love for this to be resolved. I was absolutely infatuated with the original sound of the Rally ECU+ Race/Tuned/Sport Exhaust on the Vivace with the 1.6/2.0 I4's, it's really what got me to start playing this game after a little bit of a hiatus. I was very much let down to discover this glitch had infected my newfound fun.

Even if someone has to make a mod for the sound to be back, that would be plenty for me.

In 1.19.4, they changed the exhaust popping sound of the I4 to the correct one. Before that, it was using the Boxer 4 crackling sound.
So, no. It's not a bug.

Oof, that sucks. I mean, i understand that they tried to place a sound thats more realistic, but as @Fracturedsoup previously mentionned, they sound very bad. If the sound wasn't so overridden and - im comparison to any other engine backfiring - louder, it wouldn't sound like a bug. I hope the Dev team comes to the same conclusion and either fixes these sounds or rolls back to the previous sounds. As i said, i'm not against giving them a proper i4 backfire, but ever since that update hit BeamNG i can't drive any vivace except the diesel and the petrol i5 because my ears get properly irritated the moment that sound plays a couple of times :(

Is there any way to "fix" this (even though it's intended) with a mod?

    Yes. I would think so.
Edit: No, I couldn't find a way to do this without changing the entire engine sound.

I fiddled with the 1.6 and 2.0 engine jbeams a bit and came up with a solution that sounds fine for me. I wasnt able to turn this into a mod however (not sure how to get it to overwrite the stock ecu's) so i just edited the engines in beamng/content/vehicles.rar in the vivace folder. If someone can turn this into a mod that works, feel free to use them, all i did was change and remove some AfterFireSound paths.

Exactly, i'd like it to override the original so whenever i spawn the vivace it spawns with the standard parts but with the edits i made. It's really just a couple of removed lines.

You can upload the file that doesn't overwrite the default to the repo. Maybe people want to have the old sound back?:)

Thank you for providing the mod, @DaddelZeit - however, like my own attempts, the "overwrite" doesnt seem to work. I still get the wierd cracks. For some reason the mod game default files overwrite the mod files, i belive. Gotta delete the original content files for it to work again. The non-overwrite works fine :)
