If you think about it for a moment, you'll realize that people have been making these sort of mods, even in the early days of BeamNG. These include, but not limited to: DrowsySam's Porsche 911 GT2 RS (scratch-made model on Bolide) Lurker's Toyota Celica (scratch-made model on Covet) Nadeox1's Ford Crown Victoria (scratch-made model on Grand Marshal) ky13harbor9's Volvo 242 Turbo Evolution and Ford Sierra RS500 (Forza models on Grand Marshal and Covet, respectively) roitherthomas' Mercedes W124 (external website model on Grand Marshal) Joeyfuller2000's Chevrolet Impala (Driver: San Francisco model on Pessima) MitchellKnb's Mercedes C-Class (scratch-made model on 800 Series) schumacher's Toyota AE86 and Celica ST 205, VW Scirocco and Bulli, Mitsubishi Galant, Lancia Delta Integrale Evo, and Mercedes E-Class (models from various sources on multiple official content vehicles) Since all of these mods were generally liked by the majority of the community when they were released, it's safe to assume that such mods are embraced on the forums. And that's not even counting the more recent real-world vehicle mods we have seen (S550 Mustang, RX-7 FD, Skyline R34, BRZ/GT86, Lada Car Pack); they, too, fall under the same category. Just because the model and/or the JBeam structure aren't scratch-made doesn't always make a mod a bad mesh-slap; if there is enough effort put into making it worthy for BeamNG, then said mod should be recognized as a decent mesh-slap among many other real-world vehicle mods like the ones shown above. The Porsche 944 mod is no exception.
Firstly I want to say one thing - this mod is good And then I want to say another thing - it have many bugs, bad textures and etc. More about bugs, bad textures and etc. - First that you will even see on pictures - no plastic texture, just black color. Second - Hole in interior in the place where back seat should be(also there is no back seat ) overall interior texture quality is bad(Firstly because texture are stretched and low quality, second - they don't have normal maps), also forgot to mention, the overall texture quality is bad. Third - Glass doesn't brake. And fourth - Bad JBeam model(i'm not sure that this is JBeam model, but the crashes are looking 50/50 good). So, for me score of this mod with pros and cons is 8/10. And I have one suggestion, can you make Assetto Corsa Wangan version of this car(http://assettomods.com/porsche-944-951-turbo-wangan/) ? I'm not trying to make author to fix bugs and add some features by forcing him to do this, it's his mod, so he can do whatever he want (Sorry for my bad English)
I feel like the community has been holding such an elitist view towards modding ever since 2017 was a thing. It seems like everthing that has a ported model and based off a vanilla jbeam is quickly tossed into the same bin where crap like 58_gram mods and whatever the heck is this thing from this meme go, no matter how much work the author have put into it to turn it into a good mod. (whoever made that meme please tell me I can't remember) This attitude puts off a lot of modders from releasing their mods, which might have been the next big thing if not for the fact they have been put off by a community that thinks that if it's not scratch made, it's just another mess from WOM. The way things go, there will be no mods anymore. The BeamNG community really needs to sit back and think the next time they attack something they deem a meshslap, and consider the meaning of the term "meshslap" itself, for the benefit of the community as a whole. While it's good to have standards, the current state of things is not something beneficial to the modding community or the entire community as a whole. It's just creating a toxic aura, and we really need to address this as a community and stop pointing fingers and suggesting rules against so called "meshslaps" (you know who you are guys). TL;DR: we need to rethink the definition of a "meshslap" as a community and drop the elitist way of thinking where anything that isn't 100% scratch made is crap from WOM and other such sites.
agreed. plus, people have gotta remember this game is more than just a car crash game. there's infinite possibilities for things to do, sure vehicle crashing may be a big part but it's not everything. personally i spend a lot of time taking screenshots of vehicles in different locations to tell a story, just because a mod doesn't deform well doesn't mean i won't download it as it may be perfect for screenshots.
It is really rare that i post here, but i think that this mod deserves it. Sure, this isn't the best jbeam ever, but still is great to have a nice real vintage sports car in this game and it's clear that there was work put in this mod. This isn't by anyway a "russian" mod. Personally i have a really bad opinion of private mods as it takes great mods and modders away from the community. But when i see people here heavily critizing the modder because "this isn't scratch" i understand why some modders want to keep their mod private. As i said this isn't the best mod ever, but i have fun with this mod so i'm grateful for this work and i think we should be grateful to have these kind of mods instead of another furry skin pack.
Are you going to fix the headlight problem? (stock headlight's lights point up and don't illuminate what is directly in front of them)
Like, 5 secs. The weird thing is that I did't see this thread until this day. I don't care!!!!!!!!!!!! (I knew sth. like this is gonna happen.) It's from the 80's so it is an oldti mer .
here in the Netherlands, it is not deemed an oldtimer yet. here is an oldtimer a car that must be over 40 years old and since the Porsche got build from 1982 to 1991 its not yet an oldtimer according to our rules and road taxes
