Hi! Today I just wanted to make something that everyone can ponder. But I'm not looking for stuff like "The 200bx is a 240sx, this thread is useless", I'm only thinking about "hmm... well the Vivace has some styling cues from a Focus" and so on. Without further ado, I'll let you guys do the talking. (if it gets toxic I'm going to try and lock it)
Here goes- -200BX: the front is definitely inspired by the Nissan 180SX, and the rear lights are definitely from a Silvia S14, but the overall profile is more European. -ETK 800: the overall inspiration seems to be a BMW 5-Series (F10), but with a few Mercedes-esque cues such as the shape of the quarterlights. -Vivace: definitely PSA. A Peugeot-inspired shape with hints of Vauxhall Astra in the rear. -Tograc: somewhere between a Peugeot 2008 and an Infiniti QX30, but even less visually pleasing than either. -Bolide: like a Ferrari 328, but less rounded. -Sunburst: a lot of Subaru Impreza (especially the RS version), but with hidden rear doorhandles like an Alfa Romeo 156. -ETK K-Series: nothing in particular as the nearest thing, the Mercedes SL, is a convertible. -ETK I-Series: somewhere between a BMW 5-Series (E28) and a Mercedes of similar vintage, but with a less distinctive front end. -Roamer: like a Ford Explorer, but bigger. -D-Series: a fairly generic 80s pickup truck, though the stacked lights scream Chevrolet. -Hopper: if the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was modernised for the late 80s. However, the more squared-off edges suggest a Land Rover. -H-Series: definitely inspired by the Ford Econoline, but the details of the front (the rest is generic van, they all look virtually the same) are unique. -Pigeon: too modern to be a Daihatsu Midget, but more boxy and slab-sided than a Reliant Rialto. This one is difficult, but I'd have to conclude that it looks like the 90s Reliant Robin if it had been made a decade earlier. -Covet: Honda Civic (EG6) with a slightly more conventional front end design which is more like a Toyota. -SBR4: another one with no clear roots in one vehicle. The only even similar shape which springs to mind is the Porsche 911, but the SBR4 is not styled with any retro theme. -Moonhawk: this appears to be an amalgamation of many 70s designs, including hints of Chevrolet Chevelle, Ford Mustang II and AMC Matador. -Barstow: the overall shape is resemblant of a Ford Torino, but the Barstow is more of a Mustang rival owing to its size. -Bluebuck: mostly an early 60s Chevrolet Bel Air, as they were fairly plain against the Art Deco designs of the time. -Burnside: again, a Chevrolet-inspired design, but the shapes in the front strongly suggest a 1950 Pontiac Chieftain above all else. -Miramar: the front end design is quite unusual and not suggestive of anything in particular, but the rest of the car can be defined either as a Fiat 124 or a Toyota Corona. -Piccolina: definitely a Fiat 600 clone. I see no other inspiration from any other vehicles. -80s Pessima: possibly as generic as an 80s car can get, but this means different parts can be defined as many different cars. For example, the side profile is most like a Renault 21, the rear is more like a Vauxhall Cavalier and overall there are clear hints of Toyota Camry. -90s Pessima: again, a generic saloon/sedan (delete depending on region), but this time the design is more grounded in a small number of inspirational vehicles, in this case the Mazda 626 (lights, grille, interior) and the Vauxhall Vectra (overall profile). I won't get into the T-Series and the Wentward because I don't know much about American buses or trucks.
the 200bx is a 240sx/200sx/180sx, this thread is useless. also there is like 2% similarity between the s14s taillights and the 200bxs taillights and imo the 200bxs profile is as nissan as can get, its not european at all
I think the Burnside special is way behind time. By the mid 50s cars (especially luxury!) had way flashier designs and were generally bigger too. That being said, I feel like it resembles a Super Riviera around the headlights and some definite series 62 cues in the tail. The grille is an entirely different matter, though. The chieftain bears little resemblance (I'm sorry) apart from the rear doors. The Burnside's hood is not nearly as curved and mound-ish looking; it's smoother and a good bit lower. Not far off, but then again so are any cars from that particular era.
so a j70? the thing is, that the burnside isn't a mid 50's car, it's an early 50's car, likely realistically only being produced in that facelift for 2 years at best.
That's the only way I could think to describe it when I made that post. What I meant is that the design is much less ornate than a lot of early sixties American cars, the majority are caked in chrome. --- Post updated --- Kind of, yes. I'm not that familiar with older Toyotas, otherwise I might have mentioned the J70. --- Post updated --- I'm not sure it's any closer to a Nissan than it is to a BMW 8-Series or a Vauxhall Calibra. Really the 200BX is an amalgamation of various period Nissans, with a small amount of European influence. --- Post updated --- They're all something like, the Pontiac was just the one that came to mind first.
