    I have a Redmi Note 3 phone
    Yesterday, I tried the same thing to apply the wallpaper but it was not showing "Set as wallpaper" option. A reliable method later I found out was go to Themes > Your profile > Wallpapers > My Live Wallpapers and here click (+) icon on the bottom right of the screen to add any of your wallpaper into the library and then I was able to set the live wallpaper.

    I think you edit the color of the material.

    You can change the material in the new material editor or at least that's how I do it
