Hi all. This a thread to post any computer project things. I figured we could have one thread that people could share what they do with computers. Rules For Projects it can be hardware or software keep it appropriate follow forum guidelines each post must contribute somehow, either commenting on someone else's project or your own project no flamewars between mac/pc/linux it needs to be a project of that you are currently doing it can be a robot! also, please dont put part lists and ask for an opinion. it needs to be a project you have and are working on(dont get mad at first 3 posts, this rule wasnt in place then) i would prefer this not turn into a computer help thread so please NO HELP POSTS. got to google and find a computer thread that is better suited for helping you.
GTX 770? That's probably the probably the best card at a reasonable price you can get. Everything above that will be... extreme.
I'm not sure if should buy a GTX 770 or a GTX 680... What would you buy? I'm also not sure if I should install the GPU myself or not. (I'm scared I might screw up a $300 video card :/ )
Installing a GPU is the simplest thing you can do to a computer. It is really not worth paying someone else to do it.
So, I currently have a pretty costly upgrade plan for my rig. I'll be getting a GTX 780 graphics card in the next few weeks to a month, on an Asus DirectCU II cooler. After that I'm planning on revamping my storage setup with a 500GB-1TB SSD main drive, a 2TB HDD overflow drive and a RAID 1 configuration 3TB HDD array for backing up data locally. I am also interested in picking up a good racing wheel, possibly a Logitech G27, for BeamNG.Drive and a Saitek X52 flight system for Star Citizen, but those are on the back burner behind the primary hardware upgrades.
The first thing I ever did when I was 15 was upgrade and install my GPU all on my own (I think it was a 3dfx card swapped out for a GF4 Ti4200?). Since then I've gone on to learning and upgrading/building my entire systems from the ground up. It's easy, fun and rewarding.
Guys can we please keep this on projects and not a help thread! what i am trying to say is can this be something to post projects you are currently working on and not a part list thread thanks narwhal2
Well in that case I have this Dagu rover 5 chassis, dagu 4 channel motor driver, raspberry pi, cheap wireless adapter, HC-06 bluetooth serial adapter (for configuring the wifi from my phone if I need to connect it to a different access point from default) and a 4.8v 5A switchmode regulator to power the pi (officially its a 5v device, it can really run at 4.5v stock and with modifications 3.3v) from my 3300mAh 6 cell NiMH battery. Current plan is to have a TCP server written in python running on the pi, it will accept commands and control the motors accordingly. Theoretically I could then write a TCP client on any device to control the robot, did plan to use C but TCP in C is proving difficult to get my head around just now (I have little experience with C outside of microcontrollers and little with TCP) so I've kludged a quick hack job in python so I have something that works temporarily. Eventually I want to add a webcam to the pi aswell so that can be streamed back.
says the guy building a quadcopter, that thing fucking flies, mine just trundles along the floor wherever it has a wifi connection
