Update Speculation thread

/s with "final touches" i think they mean redesigning the Vivace to make it look more french.

 

To say the timing of communication regarding this update hasn't been ideal is putting it lightly. When you release a car reveal that shows the vehicle in what would appear to most as a complete state, you're going to generate a ton of hype, but all of that goes to waste when you take what appears to be nearly two more months to release the update in question. Then, that hype turns to frustration and impatience. That's what I'm seeing right now, not just here, but on reddit, the Steam forums, and the various official BeamNG social media accounts. Communicating upcoming features and content is important, in fact it's crucial, but one really needs to take timing into consideration to avoid the negative reactions we are currently seeing across numerous platforms. I'm going to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed too, I thought it was going to be this week or next week. Getting it done properly is what matters in the end, but I wouldn't be surprised if myself and others start expecting more polish and content because of additional development time.

 

But people also get mad, if they don't get teased with what the devs are up to... It's hard to make everyone happy.

I think it's nice to see what the devs are working on, even if it means it'll be out to the public in months.
I cannot put myself into the place of being disappointed, I just don't get it. Isn't there anything else in your life to think about or do, other than a BeamNG update?

There was absolutely no evidence to say there was an update today, and a fair bit to say otherwise (no release videos, content still being teased this week).

As others have said, they have been open with communication with the Vivace. IMO it wasn't a great call to put the Vivace teaser on YouTube and the dev diary on Steam since the audience that sees it there is less familiar with the development cycle and therefore less patient, but those of us on the forum should have expected the wait.

 

What does this mean?

 

Day of release will be a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday.

 

What I wanted to say is: What is with the "when it's ready" thing? So the release date is planned? Maybe April 13?

 

The release date is when its ready. Can people stop putting out random dates they pull out of their ass? Let them finish the update and they will release it when it's done.

 

If they release the update "when it's done", how do they know that it's not done on a friday? And isn't this a "speculation" thread?

 

Im speculating this thread might be locked if this crap continues to go further downhill.

A speculation thread, not a guessing thread. When either they start releasing videos or lock the discussion thread then there will be evidence for a release, but there is none for the time being.

 

Lets pretend I have a linguistics degree and dissect this.

Definition of few:
"Although indefinite in nature, a few is usually more than two (two often being referred to as "a couple of"), and less than "several". If the sample population is say between 5 and 20, a few would mean three or four, but no more than this."

So the update is more than 2 weeks and less than 5 weeks away.
It will not be on a Friday, which implies that there is a specific day that they are planning to release this update on. It sounds like they have have an internal deadline that they are trying to have the update ready by.
(Otherwise they would simply release it "when its ready" which could totally be a Friday.)
So reasonable expectations for release are April 12th-25th (Excluding the 17th, and 24th of course.)

Something else to keep in mind is Easter. That's on the 12th and Easter Monday is the 13th.
If there is a holiday that they want to release this update on its totally going to be Easter.

I'm happy that they are doing this and mingling in the forums.
What would be a dream come true is if they had a consistent teaser ever other Friday. Sort of like Factorio's Friday Fun Facts:

I'm speculating it will be a few days after the release date before I get my update (I'm on Humble Bundle) and unfortunately there will probably be a few hot fixes after that before the bugs get ironed out. I've got other things I can do to bide my time but I am looking forward to the update. This game just keeps getting better and better!

 

I don't think so, Nadeox probably said that because it would be too risky to upload a major update just before a week-end, where the majority of the developper aren't working and would cause some serious problems. They will upload the update when it's ready on every day of the week, unless it's friday because friday is bad

 

I guess if we've got a few more weeks until the update, that means a few more weeks of more content being shown off! This week we've seen the D-Series crawler (?), but I feel like we're going to get another teaser today of something else, as we tend to see more than one teaser a week.
