Since I have the day off, I decided to go outside and mess around with my now totaled truck ( Insurance came and deemed it a total loss, I've since bought it back since the parts alone cost more than $15K). I knew that I still wanted a truck, but now that mine no longer had a clean title it would have to get inspected to be road worthy again, and for that it would have to be mostly stock in which the truck is not and never will be. I then searched around for a bit on BeamList, hoping to find a good deal on a single cab truck with no rust to no avail. After some more searching, I gave up for today, and went outside and moved the truck into the backyard so I didn't have to maneuver around my truck to park. Thankfully the engine still runs. (Waiting for the '85 pickup to be released, until then it'll sit).
So I got this price from 100 to 85dollars and ordered new wheels for my autobello wheels are 100 dollars. I accepted. He said it should be ready soon. @jerrie I started looking for my old car jack and found it with this thing it should be easier to change wheels.
The windshield on my LeGran is still broken but, considering I can still see out of it, I don’t think I need to fix it in time for the trip tomorrow. Hopefully I don’t get pulled over.
We all set off for our cruise this morning, led by @Denis15 . --- Post updated --- We immediately turned onto a dirt road and continued to the fire watch tower to admire the view. @Marxon ran into a problem with his Hopper and had to turn back before we made it to the watch tower.
I had taken the hopper to be repaired. I don't know what happened, but it appeared I had taken a bump too fast and the hopper was leaking various fluids. This would take time to fix.
It's mostly smooth sailing right now. I haven't been pulled over yet or gotten into a car accident. I'm enjoyig this trip.
the road trip is going well. the burnside hasnt had this much of a drive since i was in utah. its quite nice being on the road again. the burnside has always been a great car.
We spent the rest of the day driving around Firwood's back roads, just exploring. At one point towards sunset, we stopped at the fishing village for a picture. We skipped some stones and I took out some of the snacks that I packed. We all decided to stop at the Big Shrimp back in town for dinner and some drinks, although I don't drink alcohol. @brien_w on the other hand, got ever so slightly shitfaced. I told him that I would drive him home and he could leave his car at my house, but he insisted on driving, but welcomed me and @jerrie to follow him home and make sure he got there safely. @Denis15 headed back to his house on his own before the rest of us left.
I ended up getting pulled over for driving drunk. The cop got me for drunk driving, and an unsafe vehicle due to the headlights I managed to smash, steam coming from the radiator I broke, and the broken windshield. He told me to get out of the car, and that's where he made his mistake. I didn't get out, and he pointed his gun at me. He realized his mistake, so we agreed I'd get a ticket and day in prison, and I wouldn't say he pulled a gun on me unprovoked.
Me and @jerrie started follow @brien_w home from the restaurant. At first he seemed to be driving fine, even though he was quite intoxicated. I started to fall quite a way behind Brien and got stopped by cross-traffic at a stop sign, which meant I had lost sight of him. That's, of course, where the trouble began. Me and Jerrie continued on the route to his house and came across a cop car with its lights on...pulled off the road in front of Brien. There appeared to be a decent bit of front end damage on Brien's car, but the cause was unknown to me and Jerrie, who had pulled over quite a way in front of the cop. I stepped out of the car to talk to Jerrie. Me: Fuck, this isn't good! Jerrie: You're telling me. He's obviously drunk, and the broken parts on his car make it that much more evident. The police officer wound up cuffing and stuffing a reluctant Brien into the back of his car before calling a tow truck for Brien's car and pulling away from the scene. At this point, me and Jerrie both headed home as well.
Earlier this day I got a call from @jerrie saying that your wheels are ready to go So I picked it up. After I got home thank god I had car jack So I got my car up and started to work on it. *After some time* And it looks awesome. Then we begin our road trip I was the leader. The trip was awesome I had one beer bottle. While I was driving home I saw a cop, but thank god he didn't pull me over. I made safe home. I got a call from @Cory5503 he said that @brien_w got pulled over and got a ticket and one day in prison. He said that this cop was having a bad day he made his mistake by getting his gun out to fast. And good news I got a raise he said I will get 950 dollars a month and my paycheck is tomorrow. Even better he will pay me that 950 dollars tomorrow.
After a long night in prison, I got released and got to see the state of my LeGran. The frame seems fine, but I'll need to replace and respray the entire front end of my car. I'm going to check in with insurance, but I'm pretty sure this thing is totaled. I'm gonna drive it back home and see if I can make it drivable. --- Post updated --- I called my insurance company, and yes, my car is totaled. I guess I'll have to buy a new one or drive it illegally. The cop also didn't put anything on my license as part of the deal we made, so I've got a clean slate if I get caught driving a non street legal car. I think I'll have to get something new, though. --- Post updated --- There it goes. I got a couple hundred out of selling it. I'm gonna have to look for the crappiest car, but I think I'll be able to scrape enough money together to buy something.
