The M11009, supplied by Gavril Trucks, is a Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle (CMPV) designed for use on roads as well as for moderate off-road use. Don't let its small size fool you - despite being only as long as a family sedan, it packs a hefty punch. Under the hood of the CMPV is a turbo-diesel V8 producing 190 HP and over 400 lbs-ft torque. A four-speed-plus-overdrive manual transmission and range box ensures reliability and drivability on- and off-road. The one shown here is a prototype - the one you drive may or may not look different. Ruggedized bumpers and trim meet or exceed U.S. Army standards for durability. Depending on mission requirements, the bed may be equipped with either a dual roll bar with rectangular lights, shown here, or a camper shell. (It is not recommended to operate the CMPV without either of these bed accessories in place.) An HF radio antenna may be installed on the front bumper. Under the one-piece body is a reinforced frame with front and rear heavy-duty live-axle suspension. The standard final drive ratio is 3.55:1 and both differentials, as well as the 4x4 transfer case, may be locked or unlocked from the driver's seat. The CMPV strikes a balance between utility and compactness and is ideal for situations where a shorter or lighter vehicle is needed, e.g. due to cargo size constraints.
