Got into a bad car accident today. A grey minivan did a illegal U-turn on the highway, and collided with me when they started to turn. Thankfully the driver was the only person in the minivan, as a passenger would've been killed. For now the truck sits in my driveway, an eyesore to neighbors, while I scramble to find a cheaper estimate for a transmission replacement on my GM. But in the end I was lucky that I was able to walk away, even after my truck flipped a few times and I got thrown around in the cab.
Sorry to hear about that man, that truck looked pretty rad. If you need help doing a trans swap, I can give you a hand, and if you'd like, you can use the two-post lift at my shop.
Yeah, that would be great if I could get some help on that. As I've already gotten my hands on a replacement auto transmission, all I need to-do is install it.
Cool, the lift should be freed up for a while so let me know whenever you're ready to do the swap. We could probably just pull it with a tow strap to the shop, given it's not far from our neighborhood at all.
Well since it's still daylight outside, I guess might as well do the swap now an get it over with. If it's alright with you.
Sure I pull up to Austen's house with my truck, and back into his driveway next to his brutally damaged white D-Series. As I begin to hook up a tow strap between the hitch of my truck and the front crossmember of his GM, he makes his way out of his house with a toolbag. It takes both of us to hoist the "new" trans for the GM into the bed of my truck, with the tow strap I hooked up too early only making it more inconvenient. After that, we are on our way to the shop, with Austen steering the Grand Marshal from behind.
(@jerrie @Marxon I with @Cory5503 are planning to live road trip tomorrow) --- Post updated --- So @jerrie where can I get these tires for autobello? --- Post updated --- I got a call from my friend he said that he needs what I tow him home so I accepted. Got home He: How much do you want? Me: I don't need money He: Just take 25 Me: Ok then give me then.
Me and @Tuner from America wrapped up the trans swap on his Grand Marshal earlier today. We would've had it all done last night, but one of the fittings on the trans cooler lines broke off in the old transmission and the parts store was closed by that time. We picked up a new fitting and made a new line today, and finished the rest of the install. He took it around the block and said that it shifted way better than the old transmission, even before he grenaded it.
After getting it fixed, I re-payed @Cory5503 by giving him a vintage chainsaw that I had recently rebuilt about 4 months ago, since he helped me out by doing what would've been a $1000+ job. I then thanked him again, and went back home with my newly fixed GM.
I felt bad for taking Austen's chainsaw off his hands, after he told me he completely rebuilt it. Nevertheless, I accepted his form of payment and couldn't wait to try it out on a tree in my yard.
(Jeez, I’m sorry for not being active for a while. Could I come on the road trip as well? I have lots of time on my hand with the whole quarantine.)
