I’ve been playing Project Homecoming on FiveM this morning and come across a car in the menu called the Grotti Brioso Classic, and I’m pretty sure it is using the exact same model as the Piccolina, and when I mean exact, I mean it.

here is a image of the car in question

Funny how the rip-off was christened with a more credible name than the original... :p

Isn't the car 'Grotti Brioso R/A' from GTA V (or online)?

though Grotti is meant to be a ferrari/lamborghini analogue.

So is "Bello" in "Autobello", an existing italian surname, much like "Ferrari" and "Lamborghini". "Bello" though has pretty much disappeared nowadays, currently less than 3.000 occurrences in a country of over 60 million people. Speaking personally, I never liked the ring of "Autobello Piccolina" for this very reason, always sounded cheesy, sort of uninspired and not very credible to me. A made-up name that would only sound "italian" to a foreigner.

I suggested a last minute change of the brand name to "Autobelli" - while "Bello" is fairly rare, "Belli" is one of the most common and widespread family names in Italy - but I was told name was no big deal...

    Well, there's the word "grotty"....

Given things like the big engines or weird config selection, I wonder if anything was a big deal to the devs.

They kind-of are, Broughy1322 for example sends a shitload of money towards the Homecoming team from his twitch donations iirc.

Well, don't forget in BeamNG there're also few cars and maps that are ported from other games. Some of them are (or were) your best mods in the game. I don't think any of you asked "are you got permission to use that car model or entire map" or tell original creator that his work has been used somewhere else. You just enjoyed mod.

This is how half of the modding community works. I like something in A game and I'd like to see it in B game, lets port it here for free so others also could enjoy it.

From consumer perspective this isn't big deal. I don't have GTA5 but if I has then I would be delighted to see one of my favourite cars from BeamNG in another game. Similar thing happen with Audi Quattro from Dirt3 that has been ported as a mod in BeamNG.

From creator perspective... it depends. I personally wouldn't have anything against as long modder don't want to sell it and would mention me as the original creator. Of course this is me and there are a lot of people who don't like when their work is used no matter what.

FFS, if theyre ripping off another games model then why this lol:

"YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO UPLOAD THIS FILE ON ANY OTHER SITES!!!"

I think you bummed that when you yourself ripped off an actual game, not even a mod.

Probably not legal, but the whole "asking for permissions" has never really been a thing with GTA modding.
    At least they credited though.
