Well people, I'm back with another thread. This is a thread where you can discuss the BeamNG.Drive wiki. The only rules for this thread are to be nice to eachother and not to go off-topic. Other then that, post away
Wiki is broken. Hard to understand to the average user. Videos would be easier to use, maybe steps even.
I've seen the vehicle part of the documentation system, and to be honest it's a mess. So far it seems all they've done is paste in all of the info.json files and thumbnails—and they haven't updated it since 0.16. The wiki may be in a sorry state as well, but at least it's a bit more up to date. Lately I've been doing my best to get the vehicle section more consistent—stuff like uploading the new thumbnails, removing "[game car] is basically [real life car]" lines, and fixing general errors (the Roamer was listed as a midsize SUV for six years). I was hesitant to get into it at first due to that big header on the main wiki page, but seeing as it's obviously not top priority for the dev team right now I figured I might as well do what I can to keep it from decaying further. Plus, it really bothered me that the Roamer's official wiki page claimed it was based on the Explorer.
I don't mean to be rude or start a flamewar here... but why though? The Documentation page hasn't been updated to include the latest data (it still has the 0.16 thumbnails and is missing the Bluebuck to name a few), and not to mention it is also missing out important information, like for example the names of the vehicles. At least the Wiki actually goes into detail about the content and their history. The Documentation also lacks information about the maps which the Wiki has. IMO the Wiki is a more reliable source for information, even though it may be in a bad state right now like others had said (but we're trying to improve it).
The Documentation implementation will be brought in around 202(insert number 1 through 9 here) because they are too afraid to upset the general mass of the forum if they rapidly bring it in, its been pushed back a good load of times and they are still tinkering on it
Please remember the wiki is supposed to be updated by us, not devs. Thank you @SuperAusten64 for updating some of it.
Do the devs not like us updating the wiki? By the way, I would love to create my own wiki page. If you have any advice. That would be awesome
