This morning, I received a knock on my door from the neighbor across the street who owns the barn that my Barstow is being stored in. However, it wasn't the elderly man who I had dealt with before, but rather his wife who informed me that her husband had passed away recently, unbeknownst to me. She then continued to say that she needed me to take my Barstow out of storage so she could sell her husband's barn... in the dead of winter. The next thing I knew, I was sitting at the bank with the elderly woman, talking numbers and attempting to apply for yet another loan.

$120,000 later and I'm the owner of a 4-car garage/barn. The woman I purchased it from, looking to offload it quickly, let it go for an impossible-to-pass-up price, even if it meant that I would spiral further into debt.
    screenshot_2020-02-06_23-51-27.png
Along with the barn came an acre of land, as well as three cars that the woman knew nothing about. The Grand Marshal pictured above is included and judging by the other title she handed over to me for said vehicle, a Bruckell LeGran is tucked away in the barn under layers of boxes filled with all sorts of car parts and odds-and-ends hardware. She claims that there is still another car as well, also stating that it's title should be in it. Tomorrow being the weekend, I will tear into the barn and see what lays beyond the boxes, as well as inside the boxes.

I'm really hoping I can find a job. If not that, hopefully my ETK can sell.

so work has been slow lately at the garage. a big order of tyres just came in, but its still somewhat quiet. even though i dont really mind the calm, i think i can do beter. i decide to put up an ad in the newspaper: beam-repairs looking for an extra mechanic, if youve got some expirience, and like working on cars, come by in firwood. it has a good salary, and if you like working on vehicles, its a fun job as well. you dont need a car, since you can use the company van, which is also perfect for delivery. just come by if youre interested. beam-repairs, because your car is worth it.

I can do it after school and after I drop my sister off. I’ll stop by later today.

Okay, so once school is over we’ll have to take the bus. I’ve been sneaking online at school and I found a pretty cool car so I’m going to check it out before the interview.

while i am waiting, a red blackfoot drives onto the lot. from the looks of it it only has a few dents. the owner told me he got in a mild accident, although he didnt tell me what kind of accident. looking at the damage, it may just have been a failed attempt at parallel parking. i tell him that it wont cost much, and start repairing the damage.

(you know what? screw roleplaying as a dumb 17 y/o, i'm already a bored high schooler, i don't want to be one again in fiction.)
    so, new character.
he's a 31 year old mechanic savvy dude who goes by the name of cameron (again, i'm not very original with names lol) and he drives a basic 1.8 sunburst and resides at the firwood inn for now.
    screenshot_2020-02-07_17-12-00.png
for the sake of not having to do some boring ass character development let's say he already knows you guys (@Cory5503 and @brien_w)

So the ETK sold and I just bought a new, cheaper car. Pictures later, but I’m heading to @jerrie s place to get the interview done.

So... My interview went well. I hope I get hired. My new car is a Bruckell Moonhawk, one of the 1980s ones. It is a convertible, that does come with a top, although it doesn't really go up. I'm pretty sure the doors are stuck as well, but I just jump over them to get into the car. Rust wise, it looked pretty good, it should pass inspections for a while. Despite being a fairly luxurious car at the time, with all it's flaws I only paid $1500. It has red and squishy leather seats, handles like a boat, and is a convertible. It's not as good as my ETK, but it wasn't my dads.

My sister loves it, and so do I. I guess it’s a keeper. Guzzles gas with its V8, although with lower insurance prices the running cost is still less than my ETK. I also picked up two flip phones and a cheaper Beamcom cell plan. I’ll be able to keep it for a while even if I don’t get the job. As for the Firwood Inn, there are a few people that actually treat it like an apartment and pay rent, and I’ve been working on that as well. So if everything goes well I’ll have an apartment, a stable job, a nice car with insurance, and cell phones. Things are beginning to look up. I also mentioned to @jerrie about how I’m still going to high school, so hopefully he can sort that out. Worst case scenario I can just finish my senior year and work full time. My grades aren’t the best, but graduating will still get me a chance to get a decent job.

*Also my other character is still alive and well, I might go back at some point, though I don’t know when.*

(Alright, I guess it's about time to hop on the bandwagon myself, restarting but like @JetPoweredMacintosh™ , I too am going to already know whom my previous character did)
I'm a 25 year old named Cory Cook who got into a well-paying trade right out of high school. I work at Firwood Marine Precision Machining as a tool room worker (making ~70K a year), a company that makes specialized parts for all sorts of commercial as well as privately owned boats and other watercraft. I live in a development in the heart of Firwood with my girlfriend, Emily.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_01-34-11.png
I own a 1998 Gavril Roamer and a 1993 Ibishu Hopper, my first car which has undergone many different transformations. It's most current form is a semi-tube frame crawler powered by a Gavril V8 with 38" tires. My girlfriend drives a 2012 Hirochi Sunburst Wagon.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_01-34-29.png screenshot_2020-02-08_01-34-39.png
I'm currently saving up for either a Gavril Barstow or Bluebuck, come springtime.

The interview with @brien_w went well. He had the right attitude, and seemed to be good with cars. He did mention he was still in highschool though. Luckily most of the work happens later on the day, and i think its possible to work around that. I send him a message: “youre hired”. The schedule isnt done yet, but i think it can work. As i am done, a pessima which appeared to have gotten hit on the side drives onto the lot. Its back to work for me.

    Okay, thanks for the opportunity.

I managed to get the job. I’ll start work once we get around high school. Looks like the mechanics class finally paid off.

Caught a killer deal on a salvage title Surburst RS today at the auction lot. A friend of mine turned me onto this car and I decided to take a look since the auction lot was just down the road from me. It was totaled because it was in a flood, however the marked water line on the car just barely came up to the front bumper support, and as far as I could tell it hadn't made its way past the door seals and into the interior.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_12-53-16.png
From my computer back at home, I placed a bid when the auction opened up for $800. After going back and forth between a couple people, I got the final bid and won the car for $1200, which is an absolute steal for a Sunburst RS in any condition. The bumpers and headlights had been robbed, as well as the brakes and wheels on all four corners, but the lot workers were able to loan me some crappy wheels in order to roll it onto my trailer.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_12-57-50.png
Back at my house, I unloaded the car from the trailer and into a bush right next to my Hopper.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_13-02-42.png
My plans for this car is to (make sure it runs and drives firstly) turn it into a rally-raid car with some A/T tires, lifted struts, a skidplate, and a bashbar. It will be fun and cheap to beat on throughout the winter and into the spring, or until I wrap it around a tree.

I was able to figure out a monthly rent for the Firwood inn, so I'm proud of that. Firwood still sucks compared to Belasco, though. Maybe once I graduate we'll move back there.

So I pulled the battery out of my Hopper and swapped it into the Sunburst for the time being. I checked the oil for any water from the flood and there appeared to be about a quart of water in the crankcase, judging by the amount of it on the bottom of the dipstick. I changed the oil real quick with some cheap 10-W30 conventional oil I had laying around and an extra oil filter for my girlfriend's Sunburst. Some amount of starting fluid later and the Sunburst sprang to life. It had a slight lifter tick for a few minutes, but quieted up once it started building oil pressure.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_14-01-40.png
I took the car for an extremely sketchy test drive down the dirt road behind my house. Due to the absence of brakes, I had to slam the trans into park whenever I wanted to stop. However, the car felt great: It had some impressive power and the suspension felt tight from what I could tell on my short drive.
    screenshot_2020-02-08_14-21-57.png
I want to take it for another drive, but one that's much less deadly. That being so, I took a drive over to @jerrie 's shop to see if he had any new or used calipers, pads, and rotors for a Sunburst that I could buy off of him.

I am sitting down, making an offer on some old car parts when i see @Cory5503 drive on to the lot.
“Welcome to beam-repairs, what can i help you with?”
Cory “hello, i would like to get some rotors, callipers and pads for this sunburst.”
    “Why that. Brakes burned out?”
Cory “no, it didnt have any when i bought it.”
“Hold on, let me take a look in the back, i might have those things lying under some old parts in the back”
*looks in the back, digs through some pistons and screws*
*finds the old parts, they look to be quite new*
From the back: “so, i found all of the things you need, i think i got them when i went to garfield heights, and they seem to be in good condition”
Cory “i see, so, how much will that cost?”
“About $650’, since they arent quite new. I do think they can do the job, so, is there anything else you need?”
(Or less if 650 is too much, idk the exact costs)

I recently texted @jerrie asking when I could come in. Still haven’t gotten a response but hopefully soon. Once I get the paycheck my sister and I will have a fun day together, buy a bunch of stuff, and try to forget the situation my parents left us in.

While I’ve been waiting I was working on the roof and doors of my Moonhawk, so that if it snows or rains I can put the hardtop up and if it goes up I can use the doors.
