They should build a cheap electric car with a vague Beetle shape. It could follow the original idea of cheap car that fits 4 adults and can go on the freeways. It could be a decent electric people's car if they price it right.

honestly i think eventually they'll bring the beetle back, with an electric powertrain. but it won't be the same sturdy, replacable, servicable beetle we all know and love.

i do wonder if it would be fwd or rwd?

I would hope it sticks to the same qualities as the original. It is possible to build an electric car without building an electronic car. Tesla likes making their cars overcomplicated and impossible to service, they are basically the gated HOA neighborhood of car companies.

while that is true, can you remember the last time any modern volkswagen was that simple, regardless of if it's electric or not? the thing about electric cars is they have the potential to be so simple; a motor, a controller, and a battery. all the safety features and such can be written into the motor's control unit, but tesla makes their cars "tamper-proof" or whatever, with everything relying on other things to function (to disable ESC you need to unplug wheel speed sensor, which disables ABS, TCS, ESC, which is to be expected, but also power steering, A/C, and most minor electronics).

i would dream of a future electric beetle, with simple suspension and powertrain, similar to an electric motorcycle, with cheap steel panels that can be easily replacable. basic interior with no fear of breaking anything when you decide to change something. but that's most likely not going to happen.

Today I changed the font in Notepad++ from "Courier New" to "Lucida Console". Its really nice when 'l' and '1' don't have the exact same shape.

I can't tell you how much bug-hunting I've done because of lower-case "L", upper-case "i", and 1's in the last couple days alone, been avoiding them at all costs now; e.g. "why's my mesh backwards/sideways and jbeam upside-down??"

Same, for jBeam stuff there is often nodes that have names with "1l" or "l1" in them. Being able to see the difference between them is like a whole new world.

Why a text editor for programmers uses a default font that can't discern between different letters of the alphabet is beyond me. Its going to cause bugs at some point.

I have a Skoda Octavia vRS and its perfect it doesnt have any flaws at all and i do like it but to me its just too perfect kinda boring actually and i dont know if its me or the car? Also what should i do i cant sell it already because i financed it for 5 years should i maybe get a diffrent car or try to make the Octavia more exciting?

You should still be able to sell it, its just a little more complex to do, since you will need to find some way to cover your temporary shortfall. Maybe your bank will allow you a temporary overdraft to cover it?

You could of course modify your Octavia, but if its your only car, that's probably not a good idea if you are relying on it. So if you want something to work on maybe a dirt cheap second car is the way to go?

this is germany we're talinkg about. modifying a car is more complex than powering a trabant with a neutron star.

Well he was the one that suggested it. However, my understanding is that as long as your mods are TUV certified it shouldn't be that difficult to do (regarding paperwork).

Modifying cars here is easy but expensive if you want it cheap thats what makes it illegal because most parts arent TÜV approved then. Also selling the car would cost me more than its worth wich i financially cant afford and actually dont wanna do. With modifying i meant things like sport suspension a bit more power and a diffrent exhaust all of that together would be around 5 grand (if it wouldnt be for the TÜV it would be around 2000 mostly for the suspension then). The second option would be either keep my VW Golf and modify that (parts for it are way cheaper) or sell the golf and buy something old like a Audi 80 B3 and have some fun with that as a car for nice weather.

But Win7 is still usable. You can use win7 for at least another 5 years.

OT: Somehow I managed to understand that life is short and time is precious, so I'm going to drive vehicles IRL much more often, and I'm going to minimize playing video games and posting in internet forums.

And of course, most of the people on this forum think that's a good thing.

Windows 10 really isn't all that bad as the reddit circlejerk will have you believe. I use it regularly, and while there's still some rough edges and general lack of polish in some areas, for the most part it works as intended. There are, however, several things you need to do upon installing:
    • Uninstall all bloatware, such as Microsoft Office (unless you plan to use it), the shitty mobile games, and Groove Music.
    • Anything that can't be uninstalled (such as People and Maps), hide it. You can do that by opening a powershell window as an administrator and pasting this command:
    Code:
    Get-AppxPackage *[package name]* | Remove-AppxPackage
Replace [package name] with the package name of each app, a list of which you can find here.
    • Disable the keylogger. Yes, you heard me, the keylogger. In fact, it's probably a good idea to also turn off "Tailored Experiences" and any other settings that allow Microsoft to collect your user data.
    • Disable Game Mode, if you plan to run BeamNG.
    • Go into Settings and change the login screen from "Spotlight" to "Picture" to get rid of those dumb tips.
    • Go into the default apps setting and change them to whatever you want. If you try change your browser, it'll actually protest, but you can still do it. Once you do it won't beg you to use Edge again.
    • Disable Cortana. It's useless and once you do there'll still be a search box there. (If you don't want the search box either, right clicking the task bar brings up a window that allows you to turn it into a much smaller icon.)
Once you've done all that, all you need to do is the hardest step of all: getting used to it. That's the main reason people don't like Windows 10, despite what they may tell you. They like the look of Windows 7, and they don't want to have to get used to something different. If you can't get used to the new start menu, use Open Shell to get the old one back. Eventually, though, you'll get used to it (or you may not, and if so good luck paying Microsoft enterprise-level fees to get security updates for 7), and all will be well. After hiding login screen tips and uninstalling OneDrive I haven't received any ads for anything.

And it sucks that they ruined Solitaire, but it's 2020 and you can now play it in a browser window. Literally all you have to do is Google "solitaire" and there's one right on the results page.

Thanks, I've never been particularly interested on taking the Bing quiz on where a certain mountain range is.

Dude, does everything have to be an accusation? Nobody asked.
