A Hopper police car sounds pretty cool actually... just imagine having a police chase while rock crawling...

Does anyone remember that there is an official Carabinieri (Italian Gendarmerie) variant of this?

oh, I didn't notice that. But it would be cool to have a true rock crawler police car

I'm sure they got that from some drug raid. A lot of their undercover vehicles here in Florida are confiscated from people they have locked up.

I think the new V8 swaps are really well done. The Hopper feels like it was meant to have them in the first place.

They are Gavril engines that are probably a custom swap.

Does anyone who knows more about rock crawling know if this would be a reasonable addition to the Hopper/D-Series? If so, consider this a suggestion post. If not then ignore this.

Video is for the Vanquish RC Hurtz Dig shifter for an SCX10. I've never seen one on a full scale crawler outside of a couple clips in this video.

Funny enough, I was just thinking about this as I was messing with the hopper. It's quite common for competitive rock crawling where you're dodging cones and paint lines. Not exactly popular for a regular trail rig. Occasionally you might see cutting brakes, which is similar to a front dig. It splits the parking brake into two levers, unlock the rear diff, pull one of the levers, and you'll kinda skid around.

Here's a video of a front dig being used in a rock crawling competition.

    Well, I have another suggestion.

Since it seems that many suggestions nowadays are met with some variant of "let modders handle that", I feel the need to leave a preface here.
-To those saying that certain things that are more "out there" should be left to the modders, I agree. But that doesn't mean anything non-factory should be left to the modding community. Currently the most extreme official customization is the Crawler Hopper, so I'm taking that as a rough cut off for what's acceptable for official content.
-To those saying the vehicle team should just make cars and let the modders handle content for them... The existence of a modding community does not justify letting the community finish the game. (Unless you're Bethesda I guess). A game without content isn't exactly much fun, and going light on official content is a waste of the strong points of Beam's physics engine. Vehicle customization is something that many users find enjoyable in itself, and allows the player to make their car their own come career mode. Which means they as a player invest more in the game. New factory content provides story, additional customization options, and makes the vehicle roster feel more complete. All of that is the job of the people making and publishing the game, not the people modding it. Just look at the K-Series. That was released "incomplete" in terms of content and then forgotten about, and that didn't exactly go well for it.

    /rant
So, suggestions. I already mentioned the LWB SUV/pickup a while back and the dig 2 posts above.

Yes, I know there is a mod for it... Refer to the rant in the spoiler tab.

A sport roll bar is something that I was surprised to not see at launch.

On the Dirt Every Day episode that made it up to YouTube a couple of days ago (Episode 85) the guys put a 1 ton axle and 40" tires on a YJ. As a city dweller where the only legal off roading is on beaches, I was not familiar with such swaps but it seems like they are a common swap. Personally I really like the look of it. For those inevitably about to say that is too much for official content, look at the Crawler. For those about to say that 40"s are useless when we have 38" and 42" in game... Looking at the tire selection we currently have, I don't think that logic really applies... One thing I really don't understand is why the crawler tires come in 36" 38" and 42", they skipped 40"s...

Speaking of the Crawler Hopper, I'd just like to mention the suspension assembly. Currently the links, pan hard bar, and axles are all one assembly (see below. That is the "crawler live axle suspension" part highlighted without the components like shocks, sway bar, etc...).
    Screenshot21.png
I really hope they get separated someday, it goes against the spirit of the game to have that as a single assembly. It's like opening a LEGO set to find that the interesting bit is a single brick instead of built out of individual components. I would like the ability to detach the pan hard bar for the same reason taking out any other random suspension component is fun, and the ability to have custom links would be nice. It's fun to show off any custom links while scale crawling with RC rigs.
Also hope to see at lease some axles named like the 1960's Gavril engines. "Gavril 1/2 ton axle" or something... Again, it helps the vehicle roster feel more complete by adding a background story.

I was just thinking about a LWB Hopper a few days ago. TJ Unlimiteds (LJs) are by far my favorite Jeep in existance and I hope to own one sometime. A LWB and/or pickup version would fit the Hopper well since most of its IRL counterparts have at least two chassis variants.

I need an official 4 door Hopper in my life
Also, a small Hopper like the OG Renegades before Wranglers were as big as they are now

By Renegade do you mean a Jeep CJ? The Renegade was just a styling package for the CJ5 and 7.

If so, they share nearly the same dimensions as the later Jeep Wranglers, being Jeep YJs and TJs, which the Hopper is sized similarly to. Only the post-2006 Wranglers, being JKs and JLs are measurably larger in size.

I know that it looks like a jeep down to a T, but because of it's japanese origin I feel like this is more of an FJ-type vehicle?
    Idk, maybe its just me.

Yes but the Hopper is very obviously an 80s-90s vehicle and the FJ series hasn't looked Jeep-like since the FJ40, so it is more similar to Jeep in regards to keeping the old-school look. And either way both Jeep and the FJ series have had multiple chassis variants available, including but not limited to a 4 door and a LWB 2 door pickup.

Oh, I see. I don't know as much about Jeeps as I'd like to :p. Idk why the Hopper seemed so big to me.

Definitely closer to a Jeep TJ. It has options for a 4.0L 6 cylinder and a 2.5L 4 cylinder, as well as a 4 speed auto and 5 speed stick, the same specs as its Jeep counterpart. Diving deeper, it has 4-link coil spring suspension and the front differential is on the left side of the axle housing, again sharing traits with the TJ. If you look at it's frame without a body, it too looks nearly identical to that of a Jeep TJ. Country of origin doesn't have much to do with what this vehicle's inspired by.

I'd imagine that the hopper would have origins more like the land cruiser/patrol, starting off as a japanese military vehicle, but like the jeeps, would have evolved more down the lifestyle/offroad path rather than the utility path like the IRL land cruiser did.

I apparently know significantly less about jeeps than I thought.
