Yeah I somehow suspect you would not be working right now with all the money you have made from that xD
Even if a console can run it, this game has so many button combinations and such a selection of menus, that you'd be wishing you had a mouse at some point
Yeah the control scheme would be horrific and it wouldnt make much sense, there are what like 50 different controls there is not a controlling in existence that could handle that apart from a keyboard...
Please for the love of god NEVER mention that abomination again, Kinect needs to be banished beyond the shadow realm!
basically consolles are built like old apple computer: with specific components, and games are built around them. if a console was to be built like a computer it would: A) good power but high costs, so the company does not make money (original xbox, Intel Pentium 3 "coppermine") B) straight converion from and older PC, so games look even worse that the other consoles in that generation while costing a lot of money (amiga cd32, basically a Commodore Amiga 500) C) overpriced human waste bag that runs body odor printed on disks (Philips CDi, just diarrhea inside)
Honestly at this point, the net gen consoles should be able run BeamNG with little to no problems (hopefully) and the devs should really consider going to consoles by at least the end of 2021 (Oct-Dec). If the devs don't, then that's (IMO) a lack of innovation.
No, it's a lack of resources and reason. Console versions are expensive to make. The team would need to get their hands on a dev build kit and split their team up to make an entirely new version of the game made specifically for console specs, which are highly specialized computers. That's a lot of recources for a small-medium sized company. Then there's the question of return. Like ATV said, it'll need to run a finished product at decently high graphics settings to even be considered. Will that be able to run WCUSA with traffic on high-ish graphics settings? Maybe. But who would buy it? Children who want GTA gameplay? They already have GTA. Simracers? Not on console. That's a lot of recource input for little return. At the end of the day, this is an independant company we are talking about. They don't have a publisher to take care of the dev kit for them like Wreckfest and MR/ST does and recources are finite.
But after 6 years on the PC market, its time for the developers to at least consider consoles. The current state of the game as it is right now is understandable, but in 2 years time, this game needs to go to other platforms. The only thing holding BeamNG back from consoles is BeamNG.
By my calculations, the approximate time needed to get BeamNG.Drive to run well on the Switch is approximately infinity years.
Honestly, considering the modding, editing, controllers and controls, programming capabilities etc ? For once and for all, console means console, a modern console is 'just a beefy jail box' in comparison to the application BeamNG is. They are NOT designed to run highly editable and sophisticated software. They are designed to play tennis on ! G A M E S BeamNG isn't just a game
Yes 'computer' means 'counter' you got a point there Once you want a console to behave like a 'computer' or let's say pc you have to hack it so much that 1 - it's not a console anymore, it's a pc and 2 - you're legally not allowed anymore to use it's online features, and that's not too difficult, the producer arranges that for you anyway so you're no more able to use it ( those little thingy cells inside that break so they represent an 'unfriendly key' hah forgot how they're called ) Just think of BeamNG features : how is one going to access them on a jailed console ? Jailed because money needs to be made
