Because someone, almost certainly a third party seller (see my quote below for more on that), decided to list it somewhere for a silly price, and none of the other businesses PCPP uses has it available.
Not sure what to do, i've been waiting for a laptop to come out, with new AMD risen mobile CPUs, but its taking ages, my core 2 duo MacBook is almost unusable, I can't open large word documents without them being unreasonably slow laggy and making the laptop run hot and loud.. It's got to the point where I run my gaming desktop all the time, and use my MacBook as a (terrible) thin client to remote into it.. (the macbook can't do hardware video decoding really so software decode no battery life really loud fans).. I bought an android tablet 18 months ago but it is really limited in the productivity, every time opening a microsoft word document I just have to open it on a desktop PC to fix all the formatting issues that opening it on the tablet has caused... I lost a weeks worth of coursework because of my tablet over-writing onto it.. I bought the tablet as i knew that a $300 windows laptop would be absolutely terrible and become unusable whenever windows updates started.. Can't wait for Zen 2 on mobile.. Even on the GPU side intel have AMD beaten with iris. They have better idle consumption better cpu performance, yet again the AMD solution is just worse in every way possible. Hope zen 2 changes things But I do feel the problem is that most programs are so hopelessly bloated, why is microsoft word so slow, and why do some websites and their bloated adverts take up lots of RAM, why does one website require 900mb of memory... The fact that i need to get a new laptop, because developers just seem to not care about optimisation is sad. things are too bloated nowadays, and they expect new computers to just power through things, sure they can but they use a lot of battery power to do so..
having a machine with a CPU that can be found in the 300 dollar machines, really, that'd have been a better choice than the android tablet, theyre fine really. Runs windows and open office just fine without any significant lag. Windows update wise, the trick to it is actually doing the updates regularly rather than letting it fall behind and have to churn through a few months worth. I've even run full microsoft word on it, it was very very quick and responsive, remember, these machines are actually more powerful than your ancient macbook. Fun one, https hogs CPU like crazy. Ram, thats most web developers simply being shit, and to be frank I am yet to meet a web dev that isnt shit. They all go and import massive frameworks, the entire framework rather than a subset, just to use a tiny tiny subset from it. This is something that is utterly memory and bandwidth hogging for literally zero purpose and something that is very easily avoided.
Got myself a new monitor recently its a Samsung U28E590D. Kind of interrestet how it will be considering its one of the cheapest 4k monitors on the market.
Can someone give me advice on how to get the most performance out of this depressing combo? ASRock H61M-VG3 Intel Pentium G2020 @2.90 GHz DDR3 4GB Intel HD Graphics Windows 10 I can't buy anything for it, and most I can do is on software, and that's where I need advice
there literally isnt anything you can do besides running minimum settings and lowering resolution in everything. Not really rocket science
My mother has a laptop she bought for 200gbp which has a dual core 2.3ghz Celeron N3350, almost exactly the same as the macbook performance wise.. trouble is it gets a bit bogged down, and can faulter right when you need it most (two windows of word open and internet browser for example is a small struggle).. however 4gb of ram saves the day a bit. The trouble is you can simply be sitting on an empty desktop and the CPU will be at 100% load doing something like windows updates, sure the updates have to happen, but on battery? Microsoft why... Also the laptop hasn't got the best battery in the world, and my macbook's GPU being funny has now decided to show its gremlins in MacOSX, the window to vmware horizon won't update unless i move the window, which is quite frustrating! Windows 7 is better on this laptop, but battery life is shocking and performance too.. MacOSX can be better..
My machine has the n4100, a quad core part. Updates can still tank it, but not if you are on top of it, remember, Tuesday is the day updates come out and so is the day you can simply leave the machine on overnight and return to find its updated
So what you do is purchase a bag of Idaho potatoes. Plug an HDMI cable into the potato. Install Windows on it.
Not even HDMI. --- Post updated --- That's what I've been doing, and somehow it didn't blow up in flames yet. The big s a d
My AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT card was unstable, with frequent crashes that I thought were driver issues. As it turns out, it was not a driver issue but a firmware problem on my particular card. Fortunately, flashing a new ROM (sourced from the manufacturer) on the card fixed it. First time I ever ROM flashed a video card, but glad I decided to try it.
We have an AMD display at work with a 3700X and a 5700XT in it. The 5700XT died. Seems that the PowerColor and Sapphire cards are the good ones right now. MSI, Gigabyte, and ASUS cards are constantly being returned dead. XFX and ASRock cards review terribly and don’t sell.
I have an XFX, and the firmware update did wonders for it. I suspect the 5700 XT in general is having firmware problems on some models.
So got my hands on a 4k monitor only to notice my graphics card isnt up to the task at all. So now do i get a new card or keep the old one and wait a while? Also what would be good graphics cards currently that are able to play games in 4k and high settings?
Forgot to mention the games i play arent the newest. The newest game i currently play are far cry 5 and new dawn wich run in 1440p with my 1060 around 45fps. I used to play forza on my pc but with the xbox one x i now dont have to get it running on my pc anymore.
