I am hoping to build a budget gaming pc build within a month or two from now, I am trying to get a good idea of what I want in terms of price to performance. I have spent a few weeks sorting out my build and here is what I have come up with. (I think it is fairly thought out) Is there anything that you would change? My budget is around $550 US. Hey @Mr.Blueboy , you've set yourself up with a pretty good rig, especially for the price, I wish I could afford it(I'm only 13). The only change I would make is the addition of a 1 or 2tb HDD. I would get a 1660 super on sale during black friday, or just wait until black friday and find better parts.
Thank you! I am trying to get at least half of these parts for Christmas/Black Friday, so I expect prices will vary. With that, I may be able to get better components for the same price, but that will be determined come time. I appreciate the advice! This is my first personal build, I have some exxperience tearing down and rebuilding other desktops in the past, so this isn't anything new. I will be installing Windows 10 Pro on the cheap from a boot .iso I will create. By the way, I did change the RAM to Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB 3200mhz for a *ironically* a couple bucks less. The case I will decide on when the time comes to build.
A 1660 is a very good option. If you want to take it a step even further, the 1660 super can give you a good jolt in performance for an extra $10. You should probably upgrade to a larger storage option if you want a big library of games. If it's only a few games, you can keep your current SSD. Other than that, your system looks great!
I would definitely get a better PSU. You should never cheap out on the PSU. A bad CPU or GPU will give poor performance, a bad PSU can literally bring the systems to can damage or even kill parts. There is more to PSU's just wattage. That PSU is missing safety protections, its group regulated which makes it awful for modern builds, it is rated for a very low 25C so the life span isn't going to be long, being rated for 25C and missing safety protections is a recipe for disaster, and overall its just very bad. Get a 450W Corsair CX instead.
