I only saw one other thread about this but it was like almost a year ago when then devs had a ton of work trying to get the game fully functional. I know that the devs are working very hard to push the race update out. I think that burnout would be an awesome addition to the game. Just think about how much more cooler races and cop chases and whatnot would be . Not in the race update but maybe sometime in the near future after the race update? You would need a clutch right? Or is there already one and i'm being stupid? Msurf15
Left shift key when engine is set to manual (lb on gamepad and actual clutch pedal on wheels) is clutch. apart from that, burnouts aren't a game engine feature, its just a thing that happens if you operate the car "properly" and I would imagine should be possible, although whether the games traction, braking and clutch models would interfere or not I don't know.
It is possible, although it does require some vehicle part configuring. See attached video in zip; forum wouldn't let me upload a video. (Ignore Bandicam banner)
That's Circuit de Monaco; you can get it here: Circuit-de-Monaco. And I used 0-60's mod here: Bruckell-Moonhawk-Junkyard-Version. All you have to really do is remove the rear brakes, lighten the rear by taking parts off, and go into manual mode. Hold the throttle and brakes, then shift up (still holding throttle and brakes), and then quickly release the brake. [this technique only works for front engined rear-wheel drive cars]
Shouldnt it be enough to just remove the rear brakes on the car? Then you can hold the brakes in as hard as you would ever want and just lay some rubber down.
In the game just switch to manual mode by pressing Q (once for manual with clutch and twice for manual w/o clutch, a third time to return to automatic), hold down the left shift key (clutch) while you throttle up, shift into first and then let go of left shift and keep the brakes applied. Depending on the vehicle you may have to feather the clutch, brakes and throttle but if you're using a keyboard like myself you will probably fail miserably at attempting a burnout. At least with a simulation software there are no bills to pay for the consequences of a poorly executed burnout. Just to confirm, I just quickly went into BeamNG and tried to do a burnout with the pickup and the Bolide. No fucking luck. Perhaps it's the game engine or the fact that I'm using the keyboard but the only way i can lay rubber down is by doing a doughnut (which is a glorified burnout). In real life however, only idiots do burnouts. The risk of destroying your clutch or transmission is far too great. Also the price of tires is ridiculous so why would anybody want to throw their money away to perform a testosterone-induced show-off stunt. Burn your money away if you like.
I hope the ability to do stand still burnouts (on cars that are realistically capable) is incorporated. That would be awesome, especially since many games, even ones that claim to be simulators, won't let you do stand still burnouts. Also I'd like to do some open diff. one wheel burnouts.
So far I've had problems with burnouts, I've been able to make them with the big truck although only after removing the rear brakes. I think it's overall due to the tyres having too little low slip grip. I notice this also when drifting the marshall, it's too friendly on inputs. Try keyboard drifting in LFS, the car will spin out as soon as you straighten out the front wheels in a slide, while in beam it's highly tolerated by the cars to even turn in during a slide without too much response. Too little grip in other words. The low grip is good though while there is no wheel or mouse steering. It works good with keyboard.
