It would be nice if I could set the traffic settings to spawn 12 - 20 cars of traffic instead of maxed out at 10, it seems like such a simple change i have no idea why it isn't implemented.

For more than 10 cars you can spawn them up manually and set the ai mode for each to traffic using the AI app.

Yeah but it's a hassle I'm saying it's a feature they can implement easily

The point isn't that it is not implemented, but that for so many vehicles, you'll need a very powerful PC to be able to run that many vehicle together.
For us it made more sense to provide a more 'reasonable' range, rather than a range that goes into the unusable for most people.

Agreed... remember... most people, even 8 to 10 cars is out of reach. Some of us can hit 15 cars and still be playable, but once you head north of 20+ cars you start getting into the range of server grade equipment to really be able to keep playable frame rates... and even that isn't enough sometimes.

For example... my computer is nothing short of a beast...12 physical cores and 24 threads is pretty far outside the realm of probably 90% of all the players here (well... until very recently with all of AMD's new stuff... but I digress) This beast can keep running without bottlenecking on the physics side of things up until about 50 cars (slightly less really... more like 47 as some of the cores have to run the OS and the rest of the physical game) BUT my graphics card is just a measly GTX1070... nothing super fancy... that GPU is pretty much tapped out at around 12 cars and the FPS just starts to fall off a cliff after the 12th. So even I... with the most overkill of overkill setups (CPU wise anyways) am still graphically limited. Someday I might upgrade to a better card, but even still, my point is that most people here are gonna have a quad core CPU and probably also have something similar to a 1070 performance wise... so that computer, just like mine (but much more well balanced) will probably also only top out at 8 to 10 cars.

Long story short... for the majority of us... it just isn't worth it to have more cars right now.

well I can and I want to run 12+ cars so is there atleast a way to change it in game files? and im not gonna be gpu bottleneck at that level with a 2070 super.

Im not with the devs on this one. I get that 10 is "beyond reasonable" for 99% of the playerbase but i dont know why there isn't at least a hidden option to unlock the slider or spawn a cap of 100 cars.

is it possible to make sure that only the cars in the immediate vicinity have physics? And the rest of the traffic cars simplified physics of collisions.

You can use the Traffic Debug AI App to get a maximum of 30 cars.

There's no such thing as simplified physics in here.
Remember that all vehicles are built and tuned for the physics specs.
Changing the specs, you get a completely different simulation and vehicle behavior.
Physics is not something that can be hot-swapped here.

    We will consider that.
For now you can do that on your own, by editing your game settings.

    Go to UserFolder/settings/game-settings.ini
Find trafficAmount and change to a value you want.
Save the file, and you are good.

USE HIGHER VALUES AT YOUR OWN RISK. That can cause:
    • Very long loading times / freezes when the traffic is spawning
    • Running out of memory or crash (depending on your PC)
    • etc.
