Rav4 rentals are the WORST. Those things are garbage and I swear the lack of power gave me a migraine.

The only "rental" i had was a 15 year old Skoda Fabia with a broken rear suspension and a clutch that lived the rental life

I actually don't mind this facelift... but that grille is kinda awkward. It's a little inconsistent compared to the rest of the more formal lines here. It's starting to get a slightly higher footing this time around, but I wouldn't say it's good enough to be a contender to fight against the "Three Detroit Bulls".

I'm pretty shocked I actually say something positive about modern Nissan, especially when a lot of their latest vehicular debuts have been so far sub-par personally. It's not extremely positive, but it's something.

Elantras don't handle half bad but I hate the piddly little 128hp i4.
    I despise CVTs.
The 2018 and older Rav4 is an underpowered, unresponsive piece of shit. It will give you a migraine. Although there was a 269hp v6 offered until 2013. I'd imagine those are kinda fast. 13-18 was 176hp i4 only.
The '19 is much better. New i4 with 25 more hp, and a much more responsive transmission. I don't mind driving them.

Most modern Nissans are boring, cheap, i4/cvt people movers, but I enjoy most all of the vehicles that they try to give some spirit. Armada/QX80/Titan all share a 5.6 V8 and are very quick for their size.
Maximas have a 3.5 V6/CVT and are pretty damn fast. Fun to drive despite the CVT. Infiniti QX60 shares the drivetrain and is quite well appointed inside.
Q60 and Q50 share a twin turbo 3.0 v6. Both are attractively styled, very fun to drive, and nice inside. I especially like q50. Got one up to 130mph.

New Rav4 would be cool if it wasn't FWD.

Technically speaking, you can get it as an AWD vehicle.

Oh wait what? I thought it was FWD only. This is a development I did not forsee.

More messing around on private land, dead battery civic push started by an almost dead taxi!

Taxi has a massive hole in radiator so needs lots of water to keep it going, temp gauge doesn't work either so we might have killed the headgasket quite badly too... it still runs (just) but is very slow and underpowered, as it always has been since we bought it for £400!

LTi Fairway 1994 it is... and the civic is an EP2 1.6 but modified :p

The amount of times i said about handbrake in that video smh :p

Looks like the cheap EV's from China are starting to arrive on UK shores...

    The Cheapest Kia Sportage (0-60 = 11.1 seconds, 130hp)
    upload_2019-9-29_19-29-9.png

    MG ZS EV (0-60 = 8.5 seconds, 143hp)
    upload_2019-9-29_19-31-1.png

In the UK you only get a £1500 government grant towards the car (included in that price). So even without a grant its still in the same ball park. Especially if you consider that the top trim MG is only £2k more than the base trim model. And that top trim model has a leather interior, panoramic opening sun roof, reversing camera, etc...

Both have a 7 year warranty.

MG isn't as desirable a brand as Kia. As such there are also some real compromises involved, such as the 3 star Euro NCAP rating for the MG-ZS (The EV model hasn't been tested) Correction: I have been told it is 4 star rated. The interior quality and drive isn't quite as nice as a Kia either. So personally I would go with the Kia if given the above choice.

But, with all that said, I think the existence of this car is kinda newsworthy. Hence this post exists.

Im still on the fence with EVs espacially because i want to see the hydrogen cars win but the way its currently going the EV might actually win out. But overall in my friend and family circle noone wants a electric car because of practicality they all would buy either a diesel or hybrid

In my family it has traditionally been Diesels all around (except my mums car). They tend to be the best practical engines offering lower vehicle lifetimes costs with better real world performance for day to day driving. However, my uncle has now had an EV for somewhere around 4-5 years now. So he has two cars, the Renault Zoe and a Ford Galaxy (Diesel). The Zoe is used for majority of journeys, then the Galaxy is used for longer journeys, towing, and when they need 7 seats. I think that setup makes a lot of sense for him (and quite a large number of people), clearly he thinks so too :p.

We tend to swap between diesel and petrol mostly petrol currently only my uncle has a diesel. But im currently looking at 1.9 TDi Vws and Audis because theyre dirt cheap and last forever. A electric car would make sense for my mother as she usually only drives 2-3 kms at a time but theyre to expensive from new.

I've been watching reviews of new cars in the $40-60k USD price range and I'm starting to sound like Scotty Kilmer and his '94 Celica. My $2k craigslist car is just as good as most of these expensive new cars in almost every way that counts. The only thing that these expensive new cars do better with in anything I car about is MPG, rear visibility, and heated steering wheels. Yes they have fancy features but none of them would make a difference to me, my car already has more features than I actually use.
