Alright, so this is not an official scenario but rather just a driving challenge I propose to you all in "speedrun" form...I want to see how well you guys can actually drive since the leaderboard system is local only in current builds of BeamNG!

<<(You may suggest rule changes, removal or new rules below)>>

I finally have a sample run uploaded! It's not great quality but it works for demonstration:

(Just for consistency, I ran a 10:32 with a bone stock Logitech G27 wheel+shifter+pedal set.)

Objective: Complete the Pikes Peak Asphalt Long time trial with the vanilla Track Covet in as short of time as possible. It sounds simple, but this track is rather difficult to complete and will be quite a bit of effort and practice to do so.

    Rules:
1: (Rule changed) You must screencap and post your time here at bare minimum. Video was originally meant to be evidence against cheating, though if you aren't able to do so anymore you can merely post your time screencap.
2: (Rule Modified) You are not allowed to have your tires off the asphalt for more than 5 seconds. This feels a little more sensible than outright "too bad you died" the second your 3rd tire slides off as it gives you a chance to corner cut better.
3: There are no controller restrictions and you can even do this with a keyboard if you dare, but a wheel or gamepad is HEAVILY recommended. This track is very twisty and you need a lot of vehicle control to complete it quickly. However, you should specify the controller model you use in the run and any modifications to it if applicable.

(((The FPS rule has been removed for now, though an average of above 50fps is still recommended to reduce physics problems with the run.)))

Since my internet is horribly slow, I will upload a guide video to Youtube upon mass request. If you do not have Pikes Peak, here is a link to download the map: https://www.beamng.com/resources/pikes-peak-lidar-edition.4986/ Thank you for your work in creating this map, Ewanc!

Strict rules? They looks fine and reasonable for me. Well, maybe except first one. Why not just post a replay with optional video?

yeah, the first one and the framerate rule seem a bit too restrictive

Alright, yeah I was afraid the framerate one would be a bit much. I'll exclude it unless it becomes a problem later.

Will post the example run video later.
    --- Post updated ---
I've changed the two rules so they are no longer requirements but strong recommendations. The video rule is merely because of how close runs can become later on as people post tighter and tighter times and is meant to be evidence against cheating, but yeah the FPS rule doesn't apply as strongly as I thought anymore.
    --- Post updated ---
I tweaked the rules a little bit more, changing the tire rule to a 5-second rule for all tires rather than "more than 2 and you're instantly done" so it's easier to complete the track and allows for better corner cutting. I'm also uploading the video as we speak.

(My bad, did not know that we had to include what controller was used)

EDIT: My bad, missed the turbo gauge in the beginning of the clip.

Overall your run is qualified despite forgetting to mention the controller, I would say. Well done!

Do you mean he's cheating cause I just got 12.50.something after a couple of laps, never drove the peak before though :) .

I didn't realize he only set the gear and RPM readout to show in cabin and forgot the turbo gauge, so not quite. The only thing he forgot was to specify the controller he used but I'm forgiving that.

The in-game Covet Track already has a turbocharger on it. I thought he had used a different engine at first, but his UI just fooled me instead.

Oh ok, good driving then :). I just don't know why all the scenery looks blueish in my game, like snow (?)
Anyway, I'll give it another shot later :)

I'm having trouble uploading the video I was going to, took a day and a half only for it to get stuck at 91% upload.

I'm not pleased with my internet connection right now as a result, lol. Bear with me on the sample-run guys

My computer SUCKS, I could play the time trial at 55FPS, but recording a video reduced my FPS to 15~20, making it unplayable.
And the 0.17 update de-optimized the game on my computer, every time I went on dirt the physics stuck for half a second, forcing me to stick to the rules lol.
TIPS: Practice make a lot, I played the track for half a year to get this proficiency. And the important thing is you really don't need 1st gear at all, 2nd gear is enough for most hairpins, for the tightest hairpin, use 2nd gear and kick the clutch to rev the engine to its power band.

Well that's a new control method...I'm impressed actually, pulling off a 10:18 with a RC radio. Well done!

I know the feeling with your PC situation though, reminds me of when I was chugging along playing on a Q6600 and GTX 460 SE. Good times, lmao

Alright, I have the post finalized for now. My sample run is FINALLY up there, everything between filesize and technical problems to just losing morale to do it for a moment and lots of failed runs.

Definitely practice it, as default0.0player mentioned.
