hi! after the .17 update i became intrested in the idea of beamng Doppelgängers. i used to own one myself! between 2016-2017 i owned a '95 grand marquis LS and one of my favorite things about it is that it was just like my favorite car in beamng the grand marshal. id mess around with the real thing and go home and play with it in ways i couldn't in real life on beamng! i only owned it for a year due to rust and electrical issues. Canadian winters are hard on fords but i still wish i had it! the grand marshal seems to be a caprice in the front and a marquis in the back i always found it pretty cool that it had a heavy resemblance to the default marshal in the game! it had the same rims and everything as the games default and due to that i was pretty proud of it and found it very neat! my marquis had the sport package which added dual exaust that bumped the power and torque up to 210 and 270 respectively. it also came with a 3.73 geared rear diff and rear automatic air suspension that kept the car from sagging under heavy load! have you ever seen or owned a beamng car Doppelgänger? post some pics im curious! these are some pics of the machine itself here are some pics of the old beamng default (pre.17) and pics of a recreation of the marquis! (17.1 makes grilles under body colored trim black for some reason) here is just a random 91 caprice for comparison there is a nice mod in beamng that gives you the 4.6 modular and AOD 4 speed trans like the real car and i can also set the diff to 3.73 but sadly i cant set the rev limiter to the insanely low 5000 that the real thing had. thanks for reading! ps. the stock 4.5s and 5.5s seem to rev a bit too high and make a bit to little low end torque than most 90s trucks. im not saying this just because my old car in particular had a quite low limiter but most 90s cars and trucks wether it be ford modular based or something like a chevy LT have a bit more low end torque than the stock beamng 4.5 or 5.5l v8 can deliver and they seem to struggle in the low end. just my opinion!
That's pretty cool. The Grand Marquis - Caprice comparison is pretty spot on, too I would agree that the Gavril V8 engines are just a little too focused on the high end, though perhaps that was the intent. Gavril seems to me like it's an American brand that is desperately trying to be cool with Europeans, so the engines are a little smaller and the revs are a little higher, and the cars are a little more sensibly styled than most American products of the same time period.
That and the Fleet variant which seems to give us the hint that Gavril presumably had a monopoly on fleet sales of the GM for police and taxi purposes, much like how Ford did with their Crown Victoria when Chevrolet discontinued the Caprice Classic.
I'd imagine that Bruckell or Soliad probably had a slightly older but still similar fullsize that also saw fleet use, but was fazed out by the late 90s.
Yeah, it's fairly possible the GM had competition in that segment and when Bruckell or Soliad discontinued thier executive class full size sedan, that promptly gave Gavril the exclusive monopoly on fleet sales. Much like how Ford got the monopoly on fleet sales of the Crown Victoria when Chevrolet discontinued the Caprice Classic in 1996.
Saw this Doppelgänger a few months ago while on the road, made me instantly think of BeamNG! pic taken on major highway pic taken on west coast map on the highway
