I have been playing this game awhile but never could quite figure out how to fix this particular issue.

All of my custom cars handle well under acceleration, are responsive on corner initiation. However, when I go from corner to corner (into a chicane for instance) the weight transfer is... violent to say the least. Essentially if going from left to right, the weight suddenly shifts to the left and pulls the car off the road, even when countersteering. It feels like it might be an issue with how I set up my suspension, since pre-made cars do not give me the same problems. Any tips are appreciated!

(currently working on an automation export with this problem, but have had issues with beamng custom cars as well)

Now, I might not be on the right thinking track about your issue, but I think the problem is with the lack of tire temperature simulation in the game. In real life, the warmer the tire(s), the grippier they are, while in BeamNG they all are at an "optimal" temperature, which might not give you the expected grip at a weight transfer & thus sends your car off the track when that happens

Not quite the issue, sorry. To clarify, the vehicle has significant body roll when transitioning from corner to corner, and it appears as though all the weight transfers to the side opposite the corner. So, if I am turning left, the weight is shifted to the right, and forces me to keep turning left even if I want to straighten out or turn right.

Edit: the vehicle continues to turn even with no input (wheels straight, but vehicle is pulled left)

According to the pictures you have practically no rear sway bar and the front one is soft. Sway bars are meant to prevent excessive body roll in corners. Increasing their stiffness should solve your issues .

I was actually running no rear sway bar, been told that sway bars in automation cause terrible handling issues so I build 90% of my cars without a rear one and minimal in front, will try to stiffen it for this build

First, sorry for my English. I’m French, I’m still learning, and I try to not use google trad or another thing like this.

I see at least 3 problems on your suspension settings. As it was said before, your sway bars are the main issue. And believe me, add some strength on your sway bar in automation don’t cause terrible handling issues

For the two following issues, I gonna show you my latest automation car, even if it’s still needed some work. It’s a sport sedan, with a great level of grip and two driving mods: 4WD and RWD. Here is the specs and the suspension setting:

Your car needs more front grip. If you are under the red line in automation, your car will understeer a lot in BeamNG. And if you are you are in a chicane, it’s barely impossible to take it fast without loosing your front grip, and so your steering abilities. This with your very soft sway bar give you a very bad handling in corner, and I know what I’m talking about, I have done the same mistake in the past . For increasing the front grip, you have some choices. You can increase the front tire width, you can increase the front damper, or you can play with the aerodynamics setting (for high speed cornering abilities).

The last thing is less important, but if you intended to use this car on a track, you gonna need way more harder spring and damper.

If you want to try my car and see by yourself:

I hope it was useful to you :)
